  • Thank you, Will Stout, for the idea to get this footage during the 2019 Antique & Classic Boat Society boat show in Alexandria Bay, NY.
    A bit about the boats:
John L. Hacker (the “Dean of American Naval Architects”) was the 20th century’s preeminent naval architect of mahogany pleasure boats, whose designs included some of the greatest mahogany boats ever built. Famous vessels include the exotically named Pardon Me, Thunderbird, El Lagarto, Bootlegger, Peerless, Dolphin, Kitty Hawk, Belle Isle Bear Cats, and My Sweetie, among others. In the 1930’s, Hacker-Craft boats were celebrated as “The Steinway of Runabouts.” Named as one of “America’s Top 50 Products” by Forbes Magazine, the Hacker Boat Company, Inc. is still today creating hand-built masterpieces at their boatyard facilities on the shoreline of Lake George, NY and at a production & restoration facility in nearby Ticonderoga, NY. www.hackerboat.com
Rumrunner is a 2005 Hugh Saint / Hacker 37-foot Commuter, powered by twin Crusader 8.1L HO 8-cylinder engines rated at 425 hp each. Rumrunner’s hull was built from John L. Hacker’s designs for a 1949 triple cockpit runabout named “Wah-Wah-Taysee,” and the cabin design was adapted from Guy Lombardo’s Commuter, “Tempo,” in 2003 by naval architect Charles Jannace. Rumrunner was built by Hugh Saint Inc. Custom Boats in Cape Coral, FL. She has seating for 20 people, two independent helms, a queen-sized bed, full head, bar, shower, refrigerator, running water, air conditioning, and Bose sound. Steamed thousands of nautical miles yearly & consistently stopping at boat shows throughout the United States, she has gained plenty of popularity and accolade including “Best Party Boat” at the 2012 Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance, and “Best of Show,” the highest honor, at the Michigan Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society’s 2018 Algonac Boat Show. www.boatxchg.com/rumrunner
Pardon Me is a 1948 Hutchinson, powered by a WWII-era 1,500 hp supercharged Packard PT boat engine. Pardon Me was commissioned by Charles P. Lyon, who had already previously commissioned John L. Hacker to design for him the express commuters Finesse and Vamoose. The well-regarded firm Hutchinson Boat Works of Alexandria Bay, NY was selected to build Lyon’s new vessel. Sometimes called “the world’s largest runabout,” Pardon Me can almost appear to be regular-sized at a distance. Only up close can one truly grasp her imposing, magnificent proportions. www.abm.org/index.php/collections-2/pardon-me/

I have pictures of Rumrunner when it was being tailored to or from Florida in 2019. I think it is one of the most beautiful boats I have ever seen.
