My personal little theory is that we've already encountered the green pikmin in 2 in the form of the bulbmin. The logs state that the bulbmin have some sort of parasitic pikmin in their brain that basically makes them think like pikmin. Not only that, but their little glow is literally green. So basically the green pikmin off of this logic would be some awesome horrific type that could control enemies if you got enough of them.
Obviously if Nintendo ever actually made a green pikmin they'd probably ignore this and make it plant themed, but I like to imagine the parasite types are the green ones because I like how fucked up it is.

no lie.. it took me 2 or 3 years to figure out how to kill that armored beetle that spits rocks. my grandma played the game before me an she swore up an down he was invincible so for like 2 years any time I played pikmin 1 I would dread having to get that ship part because of how many pikmin I would hemorrhage pulling it out of his lair.
