Agreed. Great front office hire by Tigers. The Tigers were not about grinding out at bats, driving up pitch counts, putting the ball in play. They were a team of guess hitters. Scott Harris is changing all that. The pitching staff and depth is very good with more coming and Harris is upgrading the fitness and mechanics aspects .
I hope the Tigers are willing to at least spend some money this offseason. Going through another season like this is the absolute last thing I want to do.
I have to admit I thought Illitch was going with the interim guy they have. But with this new guy, fans will demand Dave Dombrowski II as in lots of aging free agents that will give them a winning record for two years and then it's contract time again. Horton, Parrish, Trammell and Leyland need to be swept out along with even Gibson . Few people are around who remember them anyway and they've proven to be not very good at their jobs. Harris's job is going to be huge building from the ground up. The Tigers haven't been able to scout talent in a long long time. To make things even harder there really isn't a guy on the team who has any talent and a new face isn't going to make them any better. So it's rebuild time again and it could take quite awhile if it's done the right way.
