- In this episode we show you our newest mod- the Pedal Control 2.0! If you drive a sprinter van, you know how problematic and unsafe the throttle can be- no acceleration followed by a quick acceleration. The pedal control 2.0 fixes these problems and in our mind, one of the most important mods we made to the Mercedes Sprinter Van chassis. Thanks for posting this, I’m going to have to order one. Just finished our first long camping trip (2 weeks) in the Thor Sanctuary and acceleration from a standing start was both frustrating and occasionally scary.
I ordered one the other day, and it came in extremely quick! Install was an easy process and I don't know how you could not want one! Great product from OWL. Works as advertised and better because of the whole experience.

Great reaction! I also like the Theft Mode. Great idea. I’m looking at something like this for my Subaru Outback that has a little lag to it as well.
Wow! Apparently it made a huge difference. Love the theft mode. It will make a huge difference when you’re getting on a freeway and merging into traffic, which I’m sure you try to avoid but sometimes you have to, to get from point A to point B. Take care and be safe.

Sounds like a great improvement for a sluggish Sprinter.
I wish you would stop-watch it though to add some hard numbers besides Wow and Hooh.
It can be done as easily as just filming the speedometer while flooring the pedal with and without the device. You could then simply time 0-50 from the video.
Good idea- we should get some objective data to show. Qualitatively it feels amazing.

This is so cool....not what I thought it would be. I definitely noticed the pedal/power issue. Very cool it's such an easy install.

@@ChadandPaul Unfortunately, mine failed after a few months and caused chronic limp mode (couldn't get out of campground at Overland Flagstaff) and is not supported by MBZ which will cost $$$.
You can pretty easily get out of limo mode. It probably just confused the computer, yet that shouldn’t be touchy to circumvent, did you find a solution ?
Great video. Add ons like this still keep me cautious before I buy them, are there any down sides to the long term usage? Mercedes knows the throttle lag is a huge sour point from so many owners for so many years, why haven't they addressed it by incorporating something like this from the factory, there has to be a reason. Any Mercedes techs or reps out there, please reply.

How cool, a simple fix for such an agravatingly constant problem. My only question is whether there is any difference in the performance of the device when the van's

Got mine went out hooked it up very easy. Now it will not connect to blue tooth. AHHHHH I watched this again and saw you push the button, went back out SUCCESS. Just took it for a spin WHOA huge difference. Thanks again.

It'll be interesting to see how it effects your gas usage. Usually quicker acceleration means lower mileage.
The one good thing is the ability to quickly go back to the original settings .

Hi Paul , watched some of your other videos and wanted to find out if there is a module to eliminate the speed limiter. My first 2019 V6 diesel was locked at 163km/h but my newer 2023 4cyl gasoline is at 145km/h and there are situations when I need to exceed that limit. Thank you
I read through the comments and did not see my question presented so .... I was wondering if this voids your warranty? Nicely done, loved your reaction to the better performance I totally empathize with your euphoria. Don’t you just love when things work.
I’m not certain- I don’t think it would. To be on the safe side if we ever had repair work done or an inspection I’d probably remove it- it’s very easy to install and remove as needed.
I’ve read that it does not void any warranties. I was concerned about it throwing a code, but haven’t seen anything about ANY problems. Getting ready to order mine now !
The delay is due to the time required for the turbo to spool boost up. This box tricks the ECU into bringing the boost on sooner giving a more linear acceleration.

Is this only for the Sprinter? I have the same issue with my Promaster. Love the reaction...like a kid at christmas or maybe that first kiss with Chad
Hahaha! I’m not sure if they make one for the Promaster! It makes a huge difference!
One downside to this is you can oly change the settings through an app. Pedel commander uses an app, but also has the buttons on the unit to control it without an app

It comes stock with Mercedes- I think some people don’t mind, for us we feel like it’s an important safety feature.
How do I order the pedal boost fix for my 2002 I don't see any links to where I can order the part
My 2004 dodge sprinter has an issue where it only stays at 70mph for a few minutes and then it cuts back to 60mph and won’t go any faster. I wonder if this product would fix the issue I’m having.
CP- How does it do taking your Sprinter up a Mountain Pass, say 10% grade? I live at 6500' and top a Pass at 10K on the regular.

Mercedes should just fix their software. There should be no reason for the stock vehicle to operate this way, and require an after market solution.
They absolutely should. But here we are, at least there's a solution.
The solution is considered “bad for the planet.” If you don’t like it you might have to blame your politicians.

It depends on the situation. We’re mostly in sport mode now to be honest- especially when we’re in cities or we’re doing a lot of merging.

So I have a question, will it only work with bluetooth connected? Or can you choose whatever mode and then say connect to your stereo system will it go back to factory mode orrrr?

Does the storyteller charge at idle? And if you drive it around town at 35-45 mph how fast does it charge the lithium batteries?
The beast mode charges at idle. You can get an aftermarket upgrade to enable it to charge at idle. The Volta system charges at I believe 1500 rpm and up. Charges the whole system up in roughly 1 hr.
Is this problem related to newer vans and what years? I have a 2011 Mercedes Sprinter V6. 3 litre turbo diesel and it seems to have plenty of power crossing intersections and getting up to speed on the highway. I was kind of surprised when I heard about this modification. Please let me know.
Hmmm, I’m not sure if it’s related to just newer sprinters. When we got in to drive the acceleration issue was immediately apparent.

@@ChadandPaul Thanks - I finally got on the phone with with manufacturer and we finally got it to pair after connecting and unconnecting it several times. Not Tesla fast, but sport mode is definitely peppy.
Any store fronts that offer this device? We’re on the road now and our van won’t go past 50 mph - we need a solution ASAP or ouR 6 hour drive will turn into 12?

Hey Peggy! What year is your sprinter? You should be able to look up if it has Apple car play. If it does you just have to make sure you plug it into the right input (on the dash in the cubby above the screen).

Is there a problem with Mercedes sprinters where you need this? Seems odd the most expensive sprinter needs a $300 after market solution just to accelerate. My RAM Promaster doesn't have this problem.
There are many pros to the sprinter Diesel engine, but pick up isn’t one of them. Promaster is a gas engine which is going to be zippier, but you’re not going to beat the power or longevity of a Diesel engine. The pedal control gives us the best of both worlds.
@@ChadandPaul I was just curious of why Mercedes can't "fix" the slow acceleration issue since it seems to be a common complaint and warrants an expensive 3rd party solution. Maybe an option Mercedes can offer when you purchase the van or later down the road when you feel you need it. Thanks for the reply. Keep up the great work on this channel.
Does the app need to stay on your Smartphone to work? What if you drop the app off your phone?
It works without your phone- it just when you want to adjust the settings you do it via the app.
So, does this not work if you don't have your phone with you?
It works! But you need your phone to change the settings.

Every time I plugged it in I was in the dealership with emissions problems. Wouldn’t suggest it.
I installed it and got more lag than I had before and several dash lights came on including the engine light and it told me to go to a shop.
Hmmm- doesn’t sound right. Where’d you get it from? I’d reach out and trouble shoot. Ours works perfectly.

If you have any issues with your van I would take it off before you bring it in because it might void the warranty
I've heard this as well, but I'm not sure it's totally true. It is very discrete and easy to remove and re-install so either way we shouldn't encounter any issues.
