  • Hello everyone,
    In today's video I stumbled across one of my friends TE20. Turns out he parked it up before Christmas, and hasn't has it out since. So what's the obvious thing to do? See if it'll start!

    love how you always say hello to the abandoned tractors. I have been recently learning what transmission gaskets and seals are required for Ford 4000 tractors as I have had to look these up for customers at the New Holland dealer i work at.

    Standard Perkins 4 cylinder Ferguson Te20 woop woop am as excited as you. She fire's broom putt putt into life. You can drop a bomb on these thing's and they will still run
    My brother's got another one now as well as the 35 morag Massey Ferguson Perkins 152Ad. He now has a 3 cylinder p3 Ferguson Tea convertion from petrol Parafin. But we need to adapt the front axle carrier.🛠🔧👨‍🔧👍

    I used to like this make and model of tractor, since childhood, my grandparents took me to a pick-your-Own regularly. In the adventure playground was an old Ferguson TE20 tractor as part of the playing apparatus, and I would sit on it for a long time.

    I got a Diesel TE20 around 1988ish, with a loader, plough, cultivator, ridger, rear box and other accessories, which I used for vegetable growing for many rears until I sold it on. A great machine. I live in North Eastern Scotland.

      same here: though for me it specifically involves knocking the rusted lock off an old shed and finding a lost steam locomotive inside. Hey, at least yours is pretty feasible actually! Mine's basically hopeless...

      @@lmm eh, I worded that badly: I never have truthfully unfortunately. the closest I've gotten is a rotted out 0-4-0T sitting on a flatcar in my hometown, but sadly she's spoken for. but, I guess, you could argue CD Johnson 9 counts (I WILL get you out of that gorge one day!)
      I mean I blundered into the remains of a stationary boiler out in new mexico once but eh, not the same really.

    Drove a tractor for the first time only a few weeks ago. Was one one of these, a 1955. Great fun altogether. Before that, never driven anything before.

    Didn't think it would start but so glad it did. The only tractor I ever drove was a T20 diesel in the late 80's as a teenager apprentice mechanic, the boss had one for the field he kept his horses in. It was a learning experience, crash box, hand throttle and shit brakes....a bit different from the car I learned to drive in 😂

    I adore the Ferguson TE20, they're one of the most popular tractors of all time.
    I've seen a good number of them at the Shrewsbury Steam Rally back in August 2019.

    Still use one of these weekly for cutting grass on a cricket ground. Less rust on it than this one but has never had any major work and still runs pretty much faultlessly. Excellent machines.

    Talk about memories!
    First tractor I drove was a little-grey-fergy diesel. I was in primary school Australia, 5th class early 1960’s. Graduated to ih AWD 6, ih A514, John Deere 3020, 4019 and case traction king. Favourite of all was the fergy

      @@lmm I’ve named my family’s cars since I was little. We had a Chrysler voyager called Millie. She hated the cold starts and used to smoke loads. She had a vm motori Diesel engine. My latest motorbillity car is called tazz or my dad calls her the Mooney bus 😂

    I learned to drive on one of these! :-) Top gear always seemed so fast on a rough track! We had one of each over the years, petrol, TVO and diesel, and many a time my Mum would find different bits on the kitchen table - dynamos always seemed to be favourites.....

    i love how he only had to start it normally with a couple of problems to actually get it running and its funny because nomally it would need restoration but this guy just knows how to start it up

    The battery connector is called an Anderson plug, usely widely in motorsport. Engine sounds sweet!

    We have a tef20. Great tractors and pretty reliable. The one in the vid would have had a MiI loader fitted judging by those brackets. Miraculously ours is one of the last 900 out of the 500000 te20s made.

    In the warmth it doesn't need cold start on but it seemed to work with it on I know this as my dad's friend has one and I've driven it and I serviced it with him once and I really want one

    When it clicks like that, go ahead and click it 50 times or so before giving up because the clicking often knocks the corrosion off the contacts and fixes it.

    I suppose being a diesel it kept running when you disconnected the booster, did you refit the battery?
    If not, could that be the reason for no charge showing?

      on an diesel engine like this it will run without a battery, a battery is only needed to start it as it is a manual pull to stop not off the ignition. modern diesel engines need a battery all the time though because as soon as you turn the ignition off it shuts the fuel pump off and will stop the engine

    I doubt it had been in that location for any length of time as the greenery under the tractor and cutter was not discolored at all. I drove one of those about 50 years ago, it was diesel but had to be started by petrol (in a small additional tank) and then switch over to diesel.

    biggest tractor ive ever driven was a 20hp air cooled lawn tractor and it was only a 2 cylinder

    You have a TO-35? I have two, both running, one with loader and backhoe which is due for a paint job, the other is our farm tractor and had a complete rebuild about 2004 or so.

    Mine runs but after a few min or when using a cutter on it, it starts choking and spitting then stalls, not sure what causes it, new battery, spark plugs, fuel, could it be a dirty fuel tank or carburetor

      @@lmm ow i see why, i hope it will get a restoration though and get better taken care of, when we bought a new property before we moved in there now we got everything inside the 2 outbuildings and the old house except for 2 tractors whom the owner wants to give to he's nephew =( i know the owner he's my former taxi driver uffe's dad so i was surprised to find out that the tractors belonged to him and that antonia's dad is he's nephew i only met uffe's dad once when i was at primary school uffe had to get some students living in another village while he's dad took me and several others who lived in the same village as i did home we got along really well and talked together and when i got home i got out of he's car but when i was gonna close the door it wouldn't close so we tried to figure out the problem me and him and we got the problem solved and closed the door and said good bye, man he was a really nice guy i gotta say, he's 2 tractors is a porsche 308 diesel super and nuffield universal 3 😁 my grandpa also has an old tractor a Mccormick International 434, i thought about getting a ferguson te 20 as my first tractor and a david brown 25d as my second tractor since i love oldies and want to have 2 of my own, our family owns a 1981 fiat 880 dt backhoe which dad and i are working on bringing the electronics on it to life it's a nice tractor and special for it's kind 😊

    A parked tractor that had not been there more than a few days as grass was green under the tractor and also under the rough cut mower this is why I think it’s a hoax. Exhaust open but no water in the engine or oil got a full tank of fuel just so happened to have a battery with the correct connectors and it was part charged. Just does not ring right with us who resurrect old machinery for a living.
