  • Born out of a shed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA in 1903, Harley Davidson have been producing motorcycles ever since.
    The first Sportster was created in 1957. And it could be argued hadn’t changed too much since then right up to the previous model available last year.
    In this video we take a look at details of the New Sportster S and have a quick look at the New Revolution Max 1250 T engine from Harley Davidson.
    This is new bike is a huge step forward from the previous Sportsters and is now more than capable of competing, with other roadsters out there, it is not what I would normally expect from Harley and it is an exciting to see they direction their development is moving in.
    So sit back and enjoy and if you like the video, consider subscribing for more videos to come.

    This engine/motor is proof the days of hot air cooled engines are over. Harley Davidson sat back and designed a motorcycle & motor that will definitely carry over to every make and model with all the maintenace issues designed out.
    The revolution max engine in the Sportster puts out 121 horse power & the Pan American motor puts out 150 horse power which is more than my Milwaukee 8 107 street glide special so all HD has to do is slightly bump up torque for the touring models to handle the weight of two up riding and gear in tow.
    Harley Davidson and the consumers demanded a smoother shifting, cooler running, less vibrating, easy maintenance bike which was done with single oil fill and single oil drain without a huge primary chain to maintain rotating in oil. Less unnecessary parts means less time on a lift, more time on the road with anti knock tech, ride modes with computer upgrades to keep everything in check. Liquid cooling was something v twins have missed out on for decades, also it's good to see HD design out flaws and problematic issues like the pushrods, rocker arms, bottom end cam, and shifting clunk.
    Harley could not sit back and let competition slap them anymore. Also they had to move past aftermarket companies and old school riders and MC’s that are satisfied with the old stuff while BMW, Honda and Yamaha have full smooth fully counter balanced motorcycles the masses want.

    At 59 yrs old I was really waiting on the Bronx oh well. About time they step the game up. Should have done it years ago . They have to make something the younger riders want.

    • @wooddawg4868
      @wooddawg4868 Před 2 lety

      I don’t think the Bronx is coming out, the reason I say this is because both models will be redundant, maybe late tho because this is the 1st model of Sportster, when they come with one with taller bars I am game prior to the revolution max engine going in touring models.

    Have the 2018 Roadster with the full cafe package & aftermarket 2 into 1 exhaust. You are correct, the exhaust has to go & a style replacement like the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC would look better. I would imagine that losing the stock exhaust would reduce the weight by 30 pounds.

    is the engine an evolution of the one used in V-ROD?

    • @MotoChatter
      @MotoChatter  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Christos, as far as I am aware the V-Rod engine was based on a Harley Davidson VR1000 race engine and developed in conjunction with Porsche. The engine is a 60 degree, four valve per cylinder, liquid cooled V-Twin so, definitely has some similarities with the new Revolution Max engine in that regard. I am not sure that new engine is just an evolution of the V-Rod engine, it certainly isn't anything I heave seen or read from Harley but, you have t be sure that they will have at least had a look at the old blue prints.
      I have a new video coming out this week focusing on the Revolution Max engine, check it out as it may answer some of your questions. Thanks for the question and for watching, have a great day.
