  • Join us as we dive into the cost of living in Thailand by exploring both local markets and supermarkets! 🛒🌿
In this video, we’ll visit a bustling local market to discover where locals get their fresh ingredients and check out the prices. Then, we’ll head to a supermarket to compare costs and see how they stack up.
Thailand offers an affordable cost of living, but if you're looking to splurge on high-end imported items, there are options available. Local markets often offer prices that are 50% or more cheaper than supermarkets, but for those seeking premium products, supermarkets have you covered.

Love this video! I initially subscribed for the Thai language learning but I really love also hearing all of the practical information and tips you share, such as in this video! Whenever I travel 1 of the first things on my list to check out is the local markets -- I actually always try to choose a hotel/accomodations within walking distance of a local market & that's usually where I go for breakfast. I love the low prices, atmosphere, and supporting local products.

Very good comparison. I usually shop at Lotus, Big C and Makro. The street vendors are the cheapest.

I live in Southern California and these tips are the same here. If you go to a fancy name brand supermarket, you’ll pay a high price. If you go to a smaller Mexican market or Asian market you’ll pay much less😊
I liked this video, just subscribed!

But how much would they charge a tourist.

If you notice, there are price tags in the market too. The local market is not a tourist attraction, where double price scams are common. 😉

@@DKINTHAILAND Yeah I can't recall ever having a situation of price differential based on being a tourist either in a supermarket within malls, Makro or a local market as well. I think being a tourist is actually a benefit when it comes to local markets (at least when I was in Isan) because we get samples and discounts based on curiosity of the vendors.
