Dear Lucy, I think I understand what your work means: The DJ is a NIGHT OWL?
And the tapes, are an analogy, for how our minds and emotions are like tapes being played on a radio show - our brain? His studio could be another analogy for the brain? Or our lives?
He's kind of trapped in his OWN DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, because, he's always working at hours, when the moon will be out? And the darkside could also be his negative emotions?
He's using music on his show as therapy, but his emotions, are threatening to ECLIPSE him?
We all have a darkside of the moon. So, it's not only about Syd Barrett but all of us.
All great Pink Floyd (and many others) works have multi layered meanings.
And like the DJ, we all use music as therapy. Our brain is the ultimate player of any format.
But, of course, we all accept at some point, the 'radio show' of our lives will end and we have to FACE the world without the music WITHIN IN us.
We all have to be eclipsed by the moon.
