  • Gender stratification refers to the differences in wealth, power, and privilege between women and men. This concept is a socially structured principle that represents an asymmetrical and unequal division between men and women.
Stratification refers to social standing, in which men typically occupy higher statuses than women. It can be examined at the individual level, for example, how the gender-based outcomes of men and women differ between countries. This difference is termed as stratification.
Gender stratification in India sees an interplay of gender along with caste,
class and religion. In India, historically, only women faced sati and even today practices like child marriage, forbiddance of education, wage gap, being denied rights over ancestral property are seen mostly in cases of women.

What about transmen? They also face discrimination while transwomen enjoy support and applaud. This is double standards.
