If you are around someone who looks like they may faint the best thing you can do is gently lower them to the ground before they fall if possible. If they are too heavy for you to do so then try to move things out of their way that they may hit on the way down so they are not further injured. Keep them laying on the ground until they feel comfortable then help them slowly into sitting up, then slowly to standing. There were a lot of people yanking them up to a standing position right after they lost consciousness which may be helpful if someone just loses their balance, but not if they passed out. Ppl faint because of not enough oxygen/blood to the brain, often due to standing or exterting themselves for long hours, being dehydrated or too hungry, and keeping their knees locked when standing for long periods (like during weddings and church services). When they are laying down blood is able to get to the brain faster. If they are not responsive after collapsing (they do not wake up, move or flinch after trying to wake them), roll them on their side and call 911 or the emergency number in your area.
Sad to see that this great piece of advise only has 2 likes. I would love for someone to try to catch me from hitting my head if I passed out and hope I'd have the quick thinking to do it myself for someone else if I had the chance.
I’ve fainted due to overexertion in a Walgreens. I was supposed to be picking up something for work when it happened. I fainted and then had a full blown panic attack from how embarrassed I felt and the guilt my coworkers made me feel like I couldn’t do the job. It took like one more month before I quit for my health.
