Driving travel channel, featuring car driving in different parts of the world. Today we drive in Punta Ballena, in the department of Maldonado, Uruguay.
Punta Ballena (Whale) is a small peninsula in the Maldonado department, just before getting to Punta del Este. The shape of it, when seen from Punta del Este reminds of a whale. It is a region with beautiful houses and hotels, from where you can get awesome sunsets and sunrise views! One of the most recognized buildings here is Casapueblo, that was the house and workshop of artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, where people can go visit a museum, art gallery, cafeteria and a hotel.
The beach of of Solanas, where the most astonishing sunset in the sea is seen is normally very popular. It is a very popular destination for the families and for younger crowd. Yachts normally anchor here. But this is a very special year as the border has been closed because of obvious reasons. Most people is from Uruguay then, which is not usual by this time of the year when the crowd is mainly from Argentina and Brazil. The beach is not crowded and the Yachts are not there...
Punta del Este and neighboring Punta ballena and its beaches are famous in South America. This is one of the best places you can find in Latin America for a summer vacation!
