Training Chicago (Part 3): horse with trust issues

Mia is invited to work as a horse behavioral therapist and trainer at the 1st Week of Welfare for Sports Horses in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
There, she had 5 days to train 8 horses of different ages and backgrounds.
This is Chicago, a Brazilian Sports Horse owned by Andrea Kober, a dressage instructor who works at the facility. Chicago is 6 years old and has a hard time trusting people, possibly because of hard events from his unknown past. Chicago has been under treatment for months from injuries from working as a young horse. He has developed a pattern of stress when asked to cooperate.
I notice that Mia gives so much more praise and keeps this connection/conversation throughout.
Mia you have melted his fears and brought out his trust. Such a beautiful thing to watch, the magic you develop between the horse and yourself. Praise and scritches, helping his rider and owner, the glowing faces at the end….just the best. 👍🐴🐴🐴

Chicago has such a beautiful stride
The second rider is brave and is entering a whole new way of being with the horse. She’s just learning. She will get better and better as she progresses. What a special opportunity for her to have some guidance from Mia.
I watch. I hear Mia tell the girl to do something. The girl doesn't do it. The girl keeps doing the same thing. Not following Mia's teaching. Like in dog training, it often isn't the dog that needs the training most. It is the human.
You have patience Mia. Not just for the horse, but for the human. Thank you.

you did so much for him..but i can see him processing in the last few seconds of the video... whatever happened to this baby..? its so sad..
His back right lower leg has an issue, it twists a little and when he stops he moves it out ward , as if it's painful to stand straight on it. I could be wrong,. Also when he was backing up his hind end kept going toward that leg. Not a horse person just observation.
He has several different issues/ injuries from his past. 🙂
Tge young Kady in the purple shirt is not truly getting it. She is sharp and quick with motion...no feeling just durection.
