In this clip Mel discusses general methods and spacing in a Square Foot Garden. In the last part of the clip he goes into carrots and the various soil requirements, temperatures, and spacing. Mel starts off at their Patio Demonstration Garden in Greenwood South Carolina.

Quality disclaimer. These videos are over 30 years old. They were taken from a Beta tape to a VHS tape and then recorded screen to camera with a video recorder. They are for nostalgic and educational purposes so please do not critique them based on quality. If I had known back in 1980 there would be an internet and a CZcams I would have used better equipment. Should anyone have better recordings of this show please let me know. Sadly all the original videos produced for the show were destroyed in a fire. Below is a link where three DVD's have been made from the original series. I'm not sure how they were spared or acquired but really nice for those who remember the show.

Oops! IPad touch. Thanks for showing this old show. Lots of important information here. I've been sitting here for an hour trying to find "How to start a square foot garden." So far what I have found isn't quite right (I don't want to insult anyone) - anyway, nothing I can use. This clip of the old show is the closest I have found, so I will poke around and see what else you have here. Thanks again!
