He said these words long time ago when he was still a VP in Moi's government...when Moi endorsed Uhuru for president in 2002......but he died around 2013 when he was to view for presidency during that year.
I disagreed with those words. The nation is ALWAYS greater than the INDIVIDUAL. Without a nation, a individual becomes a vagabond. Without an individual, a nation continues to exist.
Those words he said proved the political philosophy of Kenya. The nation is less than the politicians.

This country has been lead by MAFIAS since independence. They have deliberately robbed kenyans a couple of great leaders through assasinations. Kibaki was the only great leader who escaped their fate by a whisker & God's grace & he did a great job in those two terms, Saitoti would have continued the good work to liberated kenya but the MAFIAS cut his life short immedietly & took over Kenya again. I sure know Saitoti's demise pained Kibaki.

Saitoti defended, and was a beneficiary of President Moi's buffoonery for many years. Kajiado North, a constituency he represented for close to 2 decades is overwhelmingly developed in terms of public utilities (roads, schools. hospitals etc) in an era where closeness to the presidency guaranteed benefits for your people. He was vice president for 13 good years

It remained very undeveloped. For all the close to 20 years he was our MP and 13 of being the Vice President, you would imagine that there would have been development.
