The whole Dippin Daisy’s debacle really pisses me off actually. Mia you’re so kind and patient with these brands, but for the prices they’re charging they either shouldn’t be making these mistakes, or they should be resolving them with the quickness.
They probably would have had she immediately contacted them when the order arrived and it was so messed up. They refunded her initially for the pieces they didn't have and so she went back on and ordered some others, then her order arrived and it was all wrong, she should have contacted them immediately and left this video for another time when she finally got everything she actually ordered.

Absolutely agree! The order was absolutely failed - wrong products and sizes, refunding some of the pieces but still sending the remaining ones - I would at least expect them to contact her and ask if she wants to keep her order now that more than half of a it is unavailable...
As someone who has worked in a warehouse shipping online retail orders, there is absolutely no excuse for messing up your order so spectacularly. You should turn people away from a brand that doesnt even have a proper inventory control system in place. I can count on ONE HAND how many times we refunded based on inventory errors in the four years I worked there. We shipped shoes, not bathing suits, but I cant imagine that the process is terribly different. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, it's very disappointing.

It's a dream of mine to start up a business, clothing looks really enticing given the lack of pockets in women's clothing and untapped market, but before even designing you need a way to manage inventory. You can't sell products you don't have, and you can't replace that product with a different one
Problably they don't have a good system for controlling their stock, most likely they filed things wrong, when you buy something the product has a code that is sent to be separate, they must be storing things with the wrong codes so they may think they have a piece but once they go get it is actually another different piece with the code of the one you bought, the same for the pieces they send you, the person that got didn't look before sending, just trusted the code. Probably they still have stock of pieces that appear to be sold out somewhere else too.
Honestly they have no excuse for messing this order up. Websites have build in systems that control their stock, unless they are selling their online stock in person this is unacceptable and I can’t believe Mia isn’t pissed I would be so annoyed and just return everything
Every online business should know to throttle their stock to avoid exactly these issues. I've never heard of them and is never but from them. If you're looking for a nice swimsuit, I'd recommend Indigo Swimwear or Kore. They both make beautiful pieces!

I love how kind she is to not get mad over "a shipping issue" when she spent $200+ on their website only to not receive a single item she ordered. Even the types of items she ordered and received were the wrong size. I would definitely not order from them. If they had a storefront, maybe. But it's pretty clear that ordering online would be a waste of time and money.
It really seems like they mixed up your order with someone else’s who ordered similar colors. Would def write back with pictures and get your money back.
The fact that dippin daisys messed up both orders just tells me they mess up orders constantly. What are the chances of one order messing up and then a week later a different order messing up. I've found that i love their bikinis and they fit well and haven't had any issues w returns or refunds. i had some trouble w things going out of stock and some stuff not fitting, but they've been great about returns and I've been able to return orders 3 months out and stuff, so i actually like them! it's super weird that that happened to her, though
Also, sometimes companies realize that people are influencers and decide to give really good orders and make sure everything goes well with them versus if they’re a normal person and they don’t care about the packaging, the product, etc. I like it when influencers put in a fake name or different email when they place the orders

Maybe the company thought they had stock of those items left but didn't because they kept sending wrong items out like maybe based off the numbers of those items bought they were meant to still have stock, but it turned out they kept sending the wrong items to people so they used up all their stock. Not an excuse for the company tho, cause either way they've stuffed something up and Mia defiantly should get her money back cause it's ridiculous, like stuffing up 2 separate orders isn't okay.

This was exactly the thought I was having when things kept coming up sold out! I'm plus size and I always filter by my sizes so I don't end up excited over something only to be disappointed when it's sold out. I guess she wants to show the full range of what they offer?

I'm a swim teacher and here in Oz at the end of every summer all the swim suit stores send their left overs to thrift stores which is when I buy my new suits for the following year (usually 3 or 4) for usually around $5 per suit. I'd go broke buying off the rack for work!

The take away message is "don't buy from dippin daisies" she didn't receive the items she ordered, received item she didn't order, didn't receive items in the size she ordered and that's not mentioning the order/refund issue. If this company doesn't do returns a person that isn't an influencer would fork out there money and get completely screwed over. Can you imagine ordering from this site, spending a couple of hundred and you walk away with something you didn't choose to order in the wrong size.
I ordered masks from them and the shipping info never became available. Then when I emailed them (thats the only way to get ahold of them) I was ghosted until I had already placed another order because I thought I wasnt going to get the masks. They finally issued a refund for the ones I ordered initially. They came in the mail a few days later lol I kept my money. I was emailing back and forth with a different person every time trying to get my refund, I deserved it lol

I bought a swimsuit at like... 120$ a long long time ago... still have it. Still good. Still fits because of the way it is done. The color is not washed out from the salt or chlorine. I think you pay for the fact you never really have to buy one ever again :D And it is double fabric.

As a lingerie and swimwear designer, there are a couple things that can factor such high prices, such as: 1. Fabric quality - certain fabrics are better than others, obviously, but not only that, there are eco fabrics (they cost more) thicker fabrics and fabrics that don't fade in chlorine/sun/salt water can all play a part in the pricing 2. The design - naturally if its a mass produced simple shape that has minimal stitch detail and elements, this will be cheaper than a lined, intricate and detailed pieces (like ruffles, strapping detail, etc.), especially if they include more than one fabric type (textures, prints) or colour type because you have fabric quantity minimums. Also the use of trims, some are better than others, metal in particular has to be tested for lead and heat conductivity so it doesn't burn you in the sun - yikes! 3. Construction - along with design, the construction is so much more involved than a tshirt or a dress for example, it has to fit perfectly to the body, we all know with a poorly fitting swimsuit there is no where to hide, more expensive pieces will have a rigorous fitting process before production, unlike a tshirt for example which is pretty standard and can fit tight, loose, oversized and you'll be able to style it out 4. Quantities & Minimums - as mentioned above there are minimums in not only fabric but number of pieces per style. It will cost you more to make 100 swimsuits as apposed to 1000 (believe it or not) it has to do with the factories seeing it as a waste of their time and effort to set up machinery for such a small amount of pieces. Fabric suppliers will also charge a premium for buying less fabric because the cost of setting up the looms and knitting the fabric isn't worth their time for such small amounts Granted with all of this considered, it doesn't justify $250 for a swimsuit, but it could definitely influence the pricing architecture. It may very well cost someone $50-75 to make a swimsuit with everything involved so it would need to be sold at $150 for the person to even make a profit on it Just my take Haha (:

I knew a pattern maker and I remember different things she shared about that process and I’m sure I’m safe in sharing that the average person has no idea about this process and the potential cost involved . Like maybe adding more darts or maybe small pleats or small trim it all adds to the overall cost. Not even getting to fabric selection yet. Or the cost of the garments construction. The behind scene production of a garment is so unfamiliar to most of us.
I like how hoaka swimwear has the models with all different body shapes. Even if the quality turns out horrible. I feel like they deserve bonus points for the inclusiveness
I really loved everything. There’s a brand in my country, Peru. The brands name is Capittana and the swimsuits are pricey but they work with andean womans and every bikini are made by hand. So i think it’s worth the price because we are helping those women’s that are in need and the work they made is gorgeous. They ship internationally so it would be great if you try it ore anyone here guys.

It's fun, I've always been like this with swimwear too. And then lockdown came around and I really wanted to support a local business so I bought a $140NZD bikini and oh my gosh best money I ever spent. It's so beautifully made, the attention to detail is incredible, and I get the feeling it'll last me forever. So definitely is worth it if you can bite the bullet
the swimsuits ive gotten from shein the vast majority are great fabric and don’t feel cheap but do run small so looking at reviews from other people help. another thing is in some of their swimsuits they put a small nipple padding not a full boob padding like most brands and it’s see through but if you take it out, the swimsuit itself is fine

I love how kind she is to not get mad over "a shipping issue" when she spent $200+ on their website only to not receive a single item she ordered. Even the types of items she ordered and received were the wrong size. I would definitely not order from them. If they had a storefront, maybe. But it's pretty clear that ordering online would be a waste of time and money.

The fact that dippin daisys messed up both orders just tells me they mess up orders constantly. What are the chances of one order messing up and then a week later a different order messing up. Then when I emailed them (thats the only way to get ahold of them) I was ghosted until I had already placed another order because I thought I wasnt going to get the masks. I bought a swimsuit at like... 120$ a long long time ago... still have it. Still good. Still fits because of the way it is done. The color is not washed out from the salt or chlorine. I think you pay for the fact you never really have to buy one ever again :D And it is double fabric.

As a lingerie and swimwear designer, there are a couple things that can factor such high prices, such as:
1. Fabric quality - certain fabrics are better than others, obviously, but not only that, there are eco fabrics (they cost more) thicker fabrics and fabrics that don't fade in chlorine/sun/salt water can all play a part in the pricing
2. The design - naturally if its a mass produced simple shape that has minimal stitch detail and elements, this will be cheaper than a lined, intricate and detailed pieces (like ruffles, strapping detail, etc.), especially if they include more than one fabric type (textures, prints) or colour type because you have fabric quantity minimums. Also the use of trims, some are better than others, metal in particular has to be tested for lead and heat conductivity so it doesn't burn you in the sun - yikes!
3. Construction - along with design, the construction is so much more involved than a tshirt or a dress for example, it has to fit perfectly to the body, we all know with a poorly fitting swimsuit there is no where to hide, more expensive pieces will have a rigorous fitting process before production, unlike a tshirt for example which is pretty standard and can fit tight, loose, oversized and you'll be able to style it out
4. Quantities & Minimums - as mentioned above there are minimums in not only fabric but number of pieces per style. It will cost you more to make 100 swimsuits as apposed to 1000 (believe it or not) it has to do with the factories seeing it as a waste of their time and effort to set up machinery for such a small amount of pieces. Fabric suppliers will also charge a premium for buying less fabric because the cost of setting up the looms and knitting the fabric isn't worth their time for such small amounts
Granted with all of this considered, it doesn't justify $250 for a swimsuit, but it could definitely influence the pricing architecture. It may very well cost someone $50-75 to make a swimsuit with everything involved so it would need to be sold at $150 for the person to even make a profit on it

I really loved everything. There’s a brand in my country, Peru. The brands name is Capittana and the swimsuits are pricey but they work with andean womans and every bikini are made by hand. So i think it’s worth the price because we are helping those women’s that are in need and the work they made is gorgeous. @@bnsweeney.23 i got a couple from there - theyre pretty okay, but just okay. if you want quantity and style for not a lot of cost, shein is good. i hated the pads in their swim tops though, way too chunky and small, theyre very obvious
It's fun, I've always been like this with swimwear too. And then lockdown came around and I really wanted to support a local business so I bought a $140NZD bikini and oh my gosh best money I ever spent. It's so beautifully made, the attention to detail is incredible, and I get the feeling it'll last me forever. So definitely is worth it if you can bite the bullet
the swimsuits ive gotten from shein the vast majority are great fabric and don’t feel cheap but do run small so looking at reviews from other people help. another thing is in some of their swimsuits they put a small nipple padding not a full boob padding like most brands and it’s see through but if you take it out, the swimsuit itself is fine
I guess it depends on what you need the swimsuit for. I am a swimmer and I don’t buy a swimsuit for less than 100 dollars.
