► Thank you to Rami from Syrian Guides: syrianguides.com/
To continue with our Syrian food road trip, we’re driving from Aleppo to Latakia, on the Mediterranean coast of Syria. We’ll stop for breakfast in the mountains, eat a huge Syrian seafood meal on the sea, and have home cooked Syrian food for dinner!
Tandur Restaurant - First we drove high in the mountains, overlooking the valley where a family cooks some of the best bread ever in a wood burning tandur oven. Total price - 220,000 SYP ($14.68) for everything
Fish Restaurant - We continued our trip to the Mediterranean Sea for some amazing fresh local seafood. The surprising way they eat fish is with tarator, a sauce made from tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. Total price - 500,00 SYP ($33.33) for everything
Home cooking - We continued to Latakia, a major Syrian city on the Mediterranean Sea, where we were invited by an amazing family for a local Syrian food meal including kibbeh Kbeibat - stuffed bulgur, yalanji - grape leaves, and bulgur bandora - bulgur with eggplant.
George’s Candy Shop - In Latakia you’ll find the legendary George’s Candy Shop!
Kunafa Al Fawal - Finally to finish this amazing day of Syrian food we stopped to eat the legendary kunafa, one of the world’s best desserts, at Kunafa Al Fawal - it didn’t disappoint! Price - 17,000 SYP ($1.13) per piece

My father, who has been to Syria three times, told me many stories about the country. It is a country with a rich history and warm-hearted people. Whenever I ask my father, who has traveled to many countries around the world, what the best food he had was, he replies, "Syrian food." I want to visit and travel around there one day. Love from South Korea.
Syrian food is by far the best you will have. I was very impressed, and also they are the friendliest people.

What the media doesn't tell you about: Syria was, for thousands of years, a land where multiple cultures lived. On its land, wheat and olives were grown for the first time, and in Ugarit, Syria, the oldest alphabet and the oldest written musical tune in history were found. The oldest Canaanite mythological record. In Syrian Antioch, Christians were called Christians for the first time. In Syria, women were allowed to vote in 1949, before many European countries. Syria is the cradle of civilizations
Mother Afrika is the cradle of civilization. EVERYTHING comes from us/Afrika
The Fertile Crescent is the birthplace of civilization, that’s the region where humans stopped being hunter gatherers to settling down , growing crops and having free time to think
I hope it unites again 🙏😊@@joejoey7272

Syrian people are so friendly and welcoming, thank you for sharing their local foods and warm hospitality, Mark.
It is important for you to know: “As a Syrian citizen,” Syria, as a geographical nature and indigenous people, is a wonderful country, there is no doubt about that, but this country is beautiful as a nature and population, but unfortunately this country has obtained the most criminal dictatorial regime after the North Korean regime. The ruling dictatorial Syrian regime killed more than 2 million citizens opposed to the regime’s rule through indiscriminate aerial bombardment of all cities containing opposition voices, then arrested more than half a million people and killed them in the most brutal ways in prisons. All of this resulted in more than 12 million people fleeing to neighboring countries and to the rest of the world. The main reason for all of this is the silence of the free international community, the civilized Western world, and democratic countries about the crimes of the Syrian regime and the media machine that spreads the lie that Syria is a country in which there are no crimes by exploiting some CZcamsrs to come to Syria under complete protection from the dictatorial regime to fake The greatest crime known to humanity since World War II is the displacement and killing of 12 million people out of 20 million just because they wanted to express their opinions freely!
Those so friendly and welcoming people were butchering each other not so long ago

First time I see people in another country eat that seaweed.
In Greece we call it kritamo.
Syrians basically eat the exact same things as us. only with more tahini :D
🇬🇷❤🇸🇾
It's an ancient culture mate before turkey we were neighbors.. Ouzo is test very similar to our Arak
In Ireland we eat seaweed in coastal areas
@@E_O_S_ Irish moss! It's super healthy!
There is a lot of civilization and things in common between the Syrian and Greek coastal cities, because at one time in the past they were part of great Greece. Latakia is my city and I am proud that it has some things in common with the Greeks and Italians
Just some similarities between Greece and Syria
Let's take a look.
Greece's religion is Orthodox Christian. That started in the Levant and most Christians in the Levant are Orthodox (many Greek Orthodox like me). The religion of Ancient Greece has a lot of Levantine influence, like Cadmus is the son of Phoenician King Agenor. It is said Cadmus brought the Phoenician Alphabet (from modern day Lebanon, Syria, Palestine) to Greece, you can see both Alphabets (Phoenician and Ancient Greek) are incredibly similar.
They make Olive oil soap. The Levant is famous for Nabulsi and Aleppo olive oil soap. The word for soap is the same in both Arabic and Greek (sabuneh).
They drink Ouzo. We drink Araq.
They have their own variation of the dabke.
A lot of there diet is the same, dolma and yabrak, baklava, halawi, halloumi, shawarma, etc.
The Oud is popular in both regions. As is Backgammon.
In Syria there is a place called Amrit. They have a stadium the exact size of Olympia, but Amrit is estimated to be 800-1000 years older. Something similar to the Olympic games started in Syria and this is a big part of Greek culture. There are also Ancient Greek and Byzantine structures everywhere in the Levant, like the Norias in Hama.
Eastern Rome lasted till 1400's, so some of us share DNA on top of culture as well.
All the love from Morocco. كل الحب للشعب السوري من المغرب.
It's incredible that you went to Syria, thank you for showing us this amazing country ❤

Hello from antigua 🇦🇬
Glad someone from Antigua is watching this, respect and blessings 🙏🙏
Finally found someone from Antigua
I am from Wadi al-Nasara. Here all our Christian sons go to Antigua, especially the village I am from, where the Syrians went there in the sixties and before that. Unfortunately, a murder occurred about a year ago in Antigua of a young man named Rudy who was my neighbor in Syria.
Therefore, I want to know what the people in Antigua think about the Syrians and some information about the Syrian community in Antigua
How great to see other people in other countries.
We are all alike.. your showing this help us understand we are all the same
The beginning of the video reminded me of the mountain trips we used to take back in the day with my late dad where we used to stop for those widely-spread tasty tandoor Manakeesh on the road.

I plan to visit Syria as well as visiting Azerbaijan on my tour of europe, the Mediterranean, Asia, and eastern block in the next few years. Im told... no food in the world can match Syrian food.
My Christian Syrian friends who moved to Sydney Australia, when they visited me in San Antonio, Texas, they took me to the best restaurant in town, called "Syrian Kitchen" which became a regular hangout of mine.
After my move to Mexico was complete, ive not been back. And im still searcjing for syrian food near me.
But one thing is certain: Syria is on my list of places to experience the best food in the world!
Will notice that the food in Syria is way better in Syrian restaurants abroad 😅
@nanomazaj79 No. I've been to 26 countries and 5 continents. The food is always better in the countries of origin than they are abroad. For instance: China. Unbelievably delicious, and varied. I lived in Guangzhou for awhile. Americanized Chinese food in the USA isn't authentic. I lived in England for a few years... same thing there. I live in Mexico now... same thing here. Not authentic.
Italian food: best in Italy. Supposed to he the best in the world. My Sicilian grandparents made authentic Italian food from recipes they brought to the USA from Sicily. Their cooking was as good as in the old country. But in Italian restaurants? Abroad? Never the same.
