Love it jay, young car “enthusiast” don’t have a clue these days with airbags and ABS, 100mph in a 90’s tin box racing your mate down the local duel carriageway to your local cruise, best days of my life 👍
Massive smile on my face watching this video and listening to your stories mate! 😀😀😀 These and cars like these were the fastest things in the world back in the day (at least we all thought they were 😂😂). I made a few XE and LET one’s as we got older, and they still are properly fast!! I have lots of memories of all the 80/90’s hot hatches, but you realise how far cars have evolved when you jump in a car from that era now!
jay just to see the smile on ya dial is priceless all the car needs is a sticker across the back window PIG SLOW now that would be hilarious cheers from down under
My first was a 1.5TD nova but I promptly crashed that and bought a 1990 AX GT. Remember the bizarre bottle holders in the doors? Seemed like a bottle of wine was all that would fit 😅 Felt fast as anything at the time. Sold it for £40 a few years later but always fantasized about buying another and putting the 1.6 16v in it from a Saxo VTS. Good times
Beautiful motor mate! I`m a 90s motor guy with my all time favourite car i`ve owned being my red (similar colour to this?) F reg Astra GTE 16v (the very first release car without cat or abs and with the best Cosworth/Coscast heads and highest power) My mate had Nova SRs so this brings back big happy memories. Another mate had a mk1 Astra GTE, i intially had a mk2 1.8ltr GTE and also a mk3 Cavalier SRI. I used to be Vauxhall through and through during the 90s into the early Naughties.
I bought an F reg brand new as my 1st ever new car after I graduated Uni and 6 months later got a job at Vauxhall in Marketing and not long after that it had some nice Vauxhall GSi 15" wheels on it after I "borrowed" them after a special photo shoot to determine which wheels we wanted to put on the Astra Exclusive Convertible. Little known fact - there was almost an official TURBO special edition version we tested from our engineering team but the front suspension just couldnt handle the power. We later brought in engineers from Lotus when we were looking at ways of improving the Cavalier SRi and drove a unique LOTUS version that was a big improvement but Execs canned the project
Quality video mate. spent many a late night out in my Black GTE ripping about Colchester with the boys. without a doubt the most fun car i’ve owned. Started off with a Nova 1.3 SR, 1.4 SR, SRi and then a red GTE and ended on the black GTE. Just love em mate. Currently driving a Black Corsa 1.4T Black Edition.
I really miss my 205gti, but towards the end of its life the fuse box was being a pig and the distributor cap hated heavy rain. But still as a 42 year old man I would do anything for one again
First time I've ever seen a video not by Phil, and I must say, very much enjoyed that. Put a smile on my face that's for sure, thanks for sharing Jay! Away to find more :)
Same here great car's. To make up for missing these 2 and satisfy the itch over the last 15 years I've had a Fiat Tipo 2.0 16v and an Alfa Mito Cloverleaf spec.
Back in the day, I had a 1.4 SR on twin DCOEs and a 300 degree cam. It was noisy, broke down all the time, and took about 15 minutes to start in the morning, but I absolutely loved that car. Sadly it was before the days of camera phones so I've only got one picture of it these days. Great little cars these.
That pic of Jay with hair when he was 18 looks EXACTLY like me when I was 18, 20 odd years ago, uncanny, I had to do a double take. I've managed to keep hold of my hair though, even after all these years!
I had an A REG nova sr loved it 👌🏻 spax suspension and four branch it flew 😂 iv got a Renault 5 gt in the garage fully restoring on a spit for the past five years (too many kids) iv just bought a 2015 golf r now. That’s my midlife crisis lol.. keep smiling bud 👍🏻
Loved these in my youth. My first car was a Nova 1.2 Merit which met its end when I stuck it into a tree, then I ended up with a Mk2 1.4 SR. I loved that car, I had it dropped on Spax shocks and springs, piper exhaust, 6x10’s in the parcel shelf. Good times.
I had a Nova Gsi with my mates in going to the sanctuary dreamscape and helter-skelter and a whole lot more. I'm still raving now and Djing. I'm looking for a Nova GSI as they are awesome
My youth memories Went to my local vauxhall dealers in 1992 looking at a used 88 E Belmont sri In the showroom sat a Brand new…silk violet nova gsi That was it …straight passed the belmont to the gsi. Week later picked it up …great memories great car
Had a brown Mk1 Astra 1600GL in my youth. Loved it and blew it up! Fixed it up with re-paint, GTE engine, brakes, Spax suspension, Irmscher exhaust, loved it
Magic video Jay. Back in the day I had a Nova SRi which was such a fun little car. Such a big leap in terms of everything over my Mini 1275. Need a bit more content on getting a few things sorted & upgraded to make it just that little bit nicer all round. The only other hot hatch that I wanted more than anything was the R5 Turbo.
Got a Kadett GT myself, fivedoor with redtop in it, still loads of fun, same color red by the way. Had a Corsa like that for a few days back in the 90-ties, until a friend of mine crashed it, was short lived, glad nobody got hurt though. The Kadett definitely feels a bit more safe than that little Corsa.
Love the 90’s hot hatches!! First car was a 205 in 2013 and still got it now just collecting dust😂 Bought a 08 335i and got board of it so bought a another 205 because it feels more lively
Beautiful and love the Passion, my mate had a nova and I quite fancied sticking a red top on it. My first car was a MK2 xr3i with rst turbo kit, then had a calibra 16v. So bloody love me some late 80s early 90s crap cars haha Had m3s , 911s, c63 etc but I still think back and stalk eBay and autotrader for crap old cars from my youth. Really did make me think back to the cars I miss that I sold, and it's none of the fancy amazing ones
Lacking English corrosion is amazing. Even more amazing is that the body doesn't look like the surface of a golf ball after living in Spain for 30 years.
love the nova, the video felt close to home I'm 20 now and my first car a 1991 Vauxhall cavalier with pretty much the same 8v running gear ... gotta love a 90s vauxhall
This was my dream car when I was 18! My first car was a White 1.2 Nova Flair and I spray painted the grey bumpers! I was looking for ages for a Nova GSI. Never found one. Ended up getting a Nissan 100NX then a Celica GT. My buddy was trying to convince me to get a Calibra instead.
Absolutely love a full Jay video 👍 I never got to have a nova, they'd all rotted, but I had an Arden Blue Corsa B gsi rep, cammed with twin 45 webbers C20XE, looked stunning back in the day,
I thoroughly enjoyed this vid. Good on you Jay! It was great seeing you in such a great mood and practically giddy. I mean that in the best way possible btw. Really made me miss my first car, which was a similarly small hatch (86 Mazda 323i) :) Wish I wouldn't have been so reckless in it... spun it into a ditch while racing and bent the frame. Anyways.. :D Cheers! Love the channel and the whole team!
More people need to drive older csrs to realise how dangerous but fun they are. The level of new cars these days is insane at how fast they are, how good the brakes are and how good the build quality is(unless its a ford). Youngins these days are lucky
If you are of a certain age, that is the pinnacle of boy racer aspiration. I remember the beautiful green 2 ltr demonstrator from Courtney turbos Love it
This brings back memories of my friend's old Corsa GT (his first car) - this was like 15 years ago so I can't remember what year the car was was but it was pre-facelift so probably already 20 years old by then - especially the one where he's being a bit of a hoonigan and me being in the rear seat holding on for dear life when the grab handle breaks and I go flying across the rear seat and nearly smashed the side window with my forehead...fun times 😅 He's a Honda nut now - well he always was to be fair - and has an ever increasing collection of Honda cars and motorcycles. I swear to god every time I go back to Portugal for a visit he always has something new...the latest ones where a Motocompo and a N600 with the tiniest, cutest set of Rays Volk Mesh alloys (10 inch) I've ever seen.
Hi Jay. Mint GSI!! I had a Shitbox SR in the day with shitty brown interior, Rusty arches and doors trimmed newspaper and filler. The cylinder head loved to pop!! Probably the worst car I've owned Ha ha. But I have a Williams Clio and have kept it since 2001 and will never sell it. One of the most fun cars I've owned with memories and that's why we love them ❤️
Love it, best colour also. I'm building a red MK2 with a C20XE on Jenveys myself at the moment and it's certianly been a fun project, there's definetly a resurgence in Nova popularity going on.
Lovely car I'm into MK3 Cavalier SRi I have a 1995 black one loads of fun for a big car Looks so much smaller compared to modern cars once parked up in a car park
Superb video Jay 👏👏 Brings back found memories of my Nova SR, speedo would regularly show 120mph and lost many an alternator due to how hard the thing loved to rev 👍
ah the memories, I remember my first drive home in mine and thinking it was sooo quick lol, you can still get a quick rack kit from Harry Hockey motorsport, 2.2 lock to lock, and from memory the astra master cylinder and servo is nearly a straight fit, just need to mod the actuating rod a bit...
This was such a great video, thanks Jay. Very nostalgic. My first car was an AE82 corolla fx-gt with the 4age, it was the absolute tits. I’d love to have another one but they’re long rotted out now. I’m still a real pest for fwd hatchbacks to this day, there’s just something endearing about small shitboxes.
Jay the Blaupunkt units aren't all £400, I thought the same until recently, they do a few different models. I got the BPA1119BT only £50, Bluetooth, aux and what not its brilliant!
If you ever wondered what happiness looks like...
Possibly the greatest DriftWorks video ever.
Have to agree
The pure joy on Jay's face when out for a spin was brilliant
Proper feel good video full of nostalgia
Brought back some memory’s of driving like an absolute bell end and somehow surviving it all
Love it jay, young car “enthusiast” don’t have a clue these days with airbags and ABS, 100mph in a 90’s tin box racing your mate down the local duel carriageway to your local cruise, best days of my life 👍
Massive smile on my face watching this video and listening to your stories mate! 😀😀😀

It’s all about the “feels”. Love it.
The Nova looks amazing 😍👌🏼
Love the windy windows 💪🏽
Thanks
I know exactly what you mean Jay. I loved my R5 GT Turbo so much, I shipped it to Oz when I migrated! Love a nineties hot hatch.
Jay could so easily have his own CZcams channel...
Good work on the 90’s pill-head look
Seeing how happy this little car makes you is awesome
jay just to see the smile on ya dial is priceless all the car needs is a sticker across the back window PIG SLOW now that would be hilarious cheers from down under
Had a 1993 AX GTI as a first car. Loved it to bits. Wish I could afford to buy one now. Great video Jay. Enjoy the Opel 😉😉
Good times
If you want helter-skelter on tape I will happily make you a copy lol
Dreamscape box set you say ? ?
I have a fair selection in the loft. I can still stomach the Jungle/D&B but everything else is just a bit too much.
That's just bonkers!
Ahahaha thats best ever comment 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yasss. Still got a One Nation tape pack i can bung on some TDK 90s? 🙌🙌
I loved that 106 GTI, 😂 i never forget that night! I was devastated
Good memories, I’ll not forget being questioned by your mom about what happened. Funny non of us knew.
Lol was good memories! It wasn’t me driving Mom 😂
Love this video, i think your subscriber base is majority of people of the same age and genre. Brings back memories, thanks Jay!
Beautiful motor mate! I`m a 90s motor guy with my all time favourite car i`ve owned being my red (similar colour to this?) This takes me back! I had a 1.4 SR, also in red. Grest memories and thanks, Jay! 👍😎
I miss my Nova (& before that a Cavalier LXi with full GSi/GTE interior).
this vid has proper put a smile on my face.
Any of these that survived the 90’s without ending up burnt out in a field deserve some respect.
I really miss my 205gti, but towards the end of its life the fuse box was being a pig and the distributor cap hated heavy rain.
But still as a 42 year old man I would do anything for one again
Love this - pure joy on Jay's face! I too have fond memories of the same time, although I had a 205 Gti
Yes Jay your living your best life
We probably crossed paths down the merry hill centre and the S bends
First time I've ever seen a video not by Phil, and I must say, very much enjoyed that. Put a smile on my face that's for sure, thanks for sharing Jay! Away to find more :)
How many people just logged on Car and Classic and considered driving back from Portugal in the white one? Jay, you've lit a little flame in my heart
Go have an adventure
Massive grin on my face all the way through this video. The nostalgia runs deep with this one.
Great Video Jay. The two I would have back are the Alfa Sud 1.5 Ti and the Fiat Strada 130TC. Loved both.
Same here great car's. To make up for missing these 2 and satisfy the itch over the last 15 years I've had a Fiat Tipo 2.0 16v and an Alfa Mito Cloverleaf spec.

You’re an inspiration to us all Jay, nothing beats your first.
Still got 2 in the shed, absolute favorites..
That pic of Jay with hair when he was 18 looks EXACTLY like me when I was 18, 20 odd years ago, uncanny, I had to do a double take. I've managed to keep hold of my hair though, even after all these years!
Delighted for you Jay! Really happy its living up to the memories!
Always wanted a GSI when I was younger, ended up with an xr2 instead, great times with cars that had great character 👍🏻👍🏻
What a stunning car wanted one back in the day but had an xr3 and rs turbo
best era of cars!
Good times.

Had to pause the vid to listen to some 90’s rave. Great vid.
My youth memories
Went to my local vauxhall dealers in 1992 looking at a used 88 E Belmont sri

80-90's hot hatch nostalgia I'm right there with you Jay lol

TBH all the 500hp stuff is almost to fast to enjoy driving. 150hp lightweight is far more suited for some B road action
Great video mate, love it. Enjoying a mk2 Golf myself, living the ****box life
awesome video brings back memories ❤
Great wee motor jay. Had a red gte myself. Biggest regret selling it. Remember the McDonald's trays under rear wheels 🤣
Lacking English corrosion is amazing. Even more amazing is that the body doesn't look like the surface of a golf ball after living in Spain for 30 years.
It’s amazing how a old car can put a smile on someone’s face.Non car people just won’t get it.👍
love the nova, the video felt close to home I'm 20 now and my first car a 1991 Vauxhall cavalier with pretty much the same 8v running gear ... gotta love a 90s vauxhall

Same way my 92 honda makes me feel, great video.
Awesome video, great car, great smiles.
Narrowboat Way, was the only place to be in the 90s if you wanted some fun. Great times
Absolutely love a full Jay video 👍 I never got to have a nova, they'd all rotted, but I had an Arden Blue Corsa B gsi rep, cammed with twin 45 webbers C20XE, looked stunning back in the day,

Love it Jay - had similar memories in my '93 Metro - even less power, even worse handling, brilliant car and would love it back
Red seatbelts make it go faster I hear.
Reno 5 🔥 I swear down I was thinking this all the way though until you said it. Crisp packet body work.
Class video Jay 👍
Thanks jay for making me feel old,
More people need to drive older csrs to realise how dangerous but fun they are.
The level of new cars these days is insane at how fast they are, how good the brakes are and how good the build quality is(unless its a ford). Youngins these days are lucky
Love it. Old school cardio windows 🤣
I knew there was a reason I like jay and that’s why another nova lover 🙏🤣
Next video: I've added some 2 x 15" subs, 6x9s...3.5" zorts.."....LOL
Bring back the 90’s!!
Love ❤️ Nova /opel corsa mk1. Owned a 1.4 SR and it was a shed but loved driving it and modified it.
Best video I’ve seen in ages. Proper brought a smile to my face… everything was better in the 90s! I’m off to Autotrader to buy a 306…
Jays just single handed raised the price of any 90’s hatch with this video.
Ah the memories this video brought back….
Prices are already out of control
My first car was a 1.2i Miami blue nova saloon that was actively making its self more lightweight everyday. Cost me 200 quid and I loved it.
I remember Grifford Vauxhall spares just off Brettel lane, Brierly hill way
Corsa b steering rack. Love the car. I been looking since 2000 when got rid of my last one
If you are of a certain age, that is the pinnacle of boy racer aspiration. I remember the beautiful green 2 ltr demonstrator from Courtney turbos Love it
@ Jon Steele I remember that too, still got the Max Power magazine article.
why is there only one thumbsup button Jay? you need two of them. I still miss my rusty terrible AX GT
My first car was a Nova SR, would love another.
This brings back memories of my friend's old Corsa GT (his first car) - this was like 15 years ago so I can't remember what year the car was was but it was pre-facelift so probably already 20 years old by then - especially the one where he's being a bit of a hoonigan and me being in the rear seat holding on for dear life when the grab handle breaks and I go flying across the rear seat and nearly smashed the side window with my forehead...fun times 😅
He's a Honda nut now - well he always was to be fair - and has an ever increasing collection of Honda cars and motorcycles.
One of the most fun cars I've owned with memories and that's why we love them ❤️
Great video, great car! Resto or Restomod.... Looks great and looking forward to seeing more!
Love it, best colour also. I'm building a red MK2 with a C20XE on Jenveys myself at the moment and it's certianly been a fun project, there's definetly a resurgence in Nova popularity going on.
Lovely car
I'm into MK3 Cavalier SRi I have a 1995 black one loads of fun for a big car
Looks so much smaller compared to modern cars once parked up in a car park
I seen it in the background and thought who’s was it!very clean for it age they was the thing to have back in the day I loved them
Cracking video - the passion is evident and that made it all the better!
I enjoyed this episode of Tales With Jay, more please
Awesome car, makes me think back to my Calibra Turbo from 92. Those were the days 👌🏻
Superb video Jay 👏👏 Brings back found memories of my Nova SR, speedo would regularly show 120mph and lost many an alternator due to how hard the thing loved to rev 👍
Loving all the retro content, Got my dream car at 19, 1989 Ford Orion, Carbed, Race cam 1.6 CVH, 145hp, I bloody love it, my kinda video :)
Wow it takes me back driving mine 6×9 3 ways in the MDF parcel shelf with baby D let me be your fantasy playing' what a time.
ah the memories, I remember my first drive home in mine and thinking it was sooo quick lol, you can still get a quick rack kit from Harry Hockey motorsport, 2.2 lock to lock, and from memory the astra master cylinder and servo is nearly a straight fit, just need to mod the actuating rod a bit...
Ahh the memories. Mates had these while I had either xr2's, 309 gti's and then onto cav gsi's. Those were the days
Jay the Blaupunkt units aren't all £400, I thought the same until recently, they do a few different models. I got the BPA1119BT only £50, Bluetooth, aux and what not its brilliant!
Loved this one.
I'm still here Griffin Centre 😉
