Nice review, enjoyed watching this. KartRider is one of the most iconic and popular game in korea. you can find the characters of KartRider everywhere. there are even attractions of kartrider in amusement parks! So I'm really hoping that this game get's more successful in other countries too.
Great review! One thing to say about item mode is that it IS as technical speed mode. Yes it does look like any regular kart game but positioning on the track to dodge roadblocks and waterbombs are a must. Conversely when and where to use an item on the track is vital for changing how close the racing is. When in first place you tend to get more defensive items such as shield and ufo zapper whereas in last, you tend to get more nitro and magnets. Also item mode as a quad is played differently than duo and is also different from solo. With quads your aim is to win as a group so bump drafting a teammate is a tactic where you increase speed as a pair. Also you can 180 drift into reverse to then use a rocket going backwards instead of forwards. Then after shooting the rocket you can reverse 180 drift to go forward again. This is great for defending your teammate who is in first place. A well timed water bomb is amazing when you catch 3+ people as well. Both modes are really fun to play and are equally as demanding to input and response/reaction time. - xjf lv 22 kart:solid
Thanks for the review! As a mobile player it's interesting to see the PC version, especially since the multi-player is cross-platform and I'm often the only mobile player in matches. Surprisingly I'm not coming dead last with those odds 😂
I just started playing this game when it launched on Xbox a few days ago. As a F2P player I honestly find the gold (or Lucci) grind not that bad. Doing challenges and fully completing the B licenses gave me plenty to actually get the kart and upgrades I want. The season pass also appears to be quite generous on the free side of it which is nice. But the maps are lackluster though with only a few that I actually remember. I also agree that the item mode doesn't feel quite right and it still feels slightly clunky today. I feel this is because of the race length isn't quite long enough and/or the maps are so bland that every part of the track feels the same. I remember in Mario Kart tracks where every track has specific identifying points in each one that led to unique interactions between players, Item mode doesn't have the same magic. Especially when tracks are specifically designed for actual racing not a PvP/racing hybrid.

Hey everyone, Reviewing this one was kind of challenging; I think the game in its current state is great, but I also have good reason to suspect that won't be the case indefinitely. Though not at the level of MarioKart (I understand it's nearly impossible) I do admit,the balancing of items in this game reminded me of how busted items were in Mariokart wii,which ironically,I enjoy So far this game is fun,I love the amount of choices and filters the game has and how simple but clean the ui is. Finding games was great,the kart customization was a nice little addition more kart games should have. The license (challenge) mode is such a good way to grind quests and earn more maps,makes it worth all the time to learn to get better
I got to play both the closed and open betas for KartRider Drift on Xbox and this game seriously is the most fun game I ever played, even more fun than Mario Kart. I cannot wait for consoles to get the full release 😩

Nice review. It's been 1.5 years now since release and I only started playing this game for to weeks. It's definitely become pay-to-win since then unfortunately. Best kart tiers and character outft tiers are locked behind a pay wall.
I to am very skeptical From what I understand the kart upgrades are a kart per kart bases so a f2p should at least be able to make a few max karts with not to bad a grind I would think that is until they release a kart later down the line with higher caps or some such I have been really lovin the game so far and hope to be proven wrong though so we will have to see
Yeah the current state is great but I don't like the sound of upgrading karts. This is only one of the few games on mobile where you truly feel the *fun* while playing.
Nice review, well made with thoughts to consider etc. The grind thing seems not fun imo, takes away more from games than they add in my opinion. Gonna try it out, steam review kinda bashes the game.
personally i not like the drifting part, but worse is you need to get a licence before you can play gp.. throwing water balloons.. now that makes sense.. the later hold release sounds more like a mortal kombat combo.. but then i'm also 42 with less time to play. little difficult licence if you not want to spend much time on it i think and i also look at the characters.. then again it makes sense kiddie looking characters and throwing waterballoons for a licence.. then if you want 3 stars on all wow
@@Fortuna_716 i not play on ps4 to play a mobile game. i'm not a kid anymore that plays games every day for 2-5 hours. 1 grand prix a day maybe and really that licence is just weird, what is a race about? winning, and i can win races.. but some things feel like i'm learning a combo from mortal kombat gas release then press again or what about throwing water balloons.. it's a racing game, but yeah the characters to me also look stupid means if i not have fun i quit. i compare difficulty with graphics and characters.. and to be honest most of these typ of games are not fun
@@Fortuna_716 what developer lock grand prix 100% it's also a drifting game and it has dumb characters.. so i would never spend more then 30min-1 hour on this game. at my age a game needs to be very good, who is 42 and play this game? maybe nobody. licence is boring and take too long
Yeah great game if you like being in a room full of Korean modders who will teleport from just after the starting line too it. Nothing like being timed out 20 seconds into a race on a 45 second minimum lap track.

Played Kartrider in middle school. I'm 30 now with a wife and child. Seeing this on the Xbox store it was an instant download just for the nostalgia
I'm surprise you didn't mention the PC and mobile account connection. Which is a huge plus for me.
