      make sure it is the RIGHT berryman product, if it smells like nail polish remover its the wrong one, should be BROWN and watery and water soluble, they sell TWO carb cleaners in the SAME exact bucket but with DIFFERENT part numbers on the can

    Hi Matthew,
    I have a Honda civic 1.8 2012 R18 z4 engine as believe my piston oil control rings are gunged up and causing excessive oil consumption rates around 300 miles per 1 litre of oil. Any good oil cleaners that will loosen these oil control rings to help consumption without taking engine apart? I am trying the BG109 this weekend. Gonna run it from cold to operating temp then run at 1,200rpm for 20 mins. Hope you can reply as would love to know. Compression is still very good on my engine just eating oil.
    Many thanks 🙏

      Leave then in so they'll get cleaned up, and you can rotate them between dips to help clean the rings lands. Pull the rings afterwards to make sure you got rid of all the carbon.

    Crazy. This stuff in Canada to try to find is 75-$125 😐👎🏼 So difficult building cars here, there is next to zero parts manufacturers, shipping / import fees are insane, and our dollar is worth 3/4 of the US dollar. Plus there’s usually free shipping (on any of the sites I use) within the 48 states
    I have found buying my parts from Aus/UK are better deals and just waiting for the longer shipping times

    This is most definitely not carbon, this is very slight oil staining. Carbon is a solid crust that needs to be scraped off with a chisel.

    • @cmattdabrat
      @cmattdabrat  Před 2 lety +1

      I'll agree with you about the crust. Find a part that has carbon build up. Toss it in a can of Chem dip for 15-30 minutes. Scrub it. After a few dips, the carbon comes right off. I've done this with plenty of car parts that had carbon build up. Eats it right up.
