Thank you for your reaction!!! This is a traditional Greek song and of course we don't expect from you to feel it or like it because it wouldn't be normal. Only Greeks or even Balkans can feel and understand these meaningful traditional songs! But we're very happy that Marina gave the opportunity to foreign people to hear some greek traditional music that has already over 4000 years history and existence, counting from the ancient Greek music.

The song is a traditional one and it's about the destruction of the city of Naoussa from the Turks in 1822!
More specifically is a mourning song, that is referred to the women of Naoussa who decided to drown themselves in the river Arapitsa, so they wouldn't be captured by the Turks!
The actual song is longer but the lyrics of this version are:

Marina great singer, a soprano herself , producing, dancing, singing, rapping ! A great musician , a big talent, a kind personality! There is no other song that can represent more "united by music". So many elements and cultures combined in a very modern and inspirational way! She totally deserves the win and she will get it! Lets vote her ! 🏆🏅🏆🏅💪

The song is a traditional one and is about the women of Naoussa (Macedonia Greece) who threw themselves (along with their babies) in Arapitsa river waterfall so as not to surrender to the Ottoman Turks having captured the city! In April the 22th of 1822 (as of tomorrow). They have fallen from the highest place of the city of Naoussa. Which is the Kastro (Castle). Right next to the beginning of the waterfall of the local Arápitsa (or Arapítsa, either way) river.

The song is a stately 2/2 dance-lamentstion. It laments the destruction of the city of Naoussa by the Ottoman Turks in 1822. Many women chose to drown in a nearby river to escape enslavement and being sold in slave markets of the orient. A similar event took place in Zalongo in Epirus. The women fell from a mountain top down a cliff, reportedly singing a lamenting farewell to life and dancing they fell. First they had thrown their babies. Some survived, since they fell on the corpses of the women who leaped before them. Shostakovich has composed a song on this event.

Naousa, 1822
The city of Naousa is captured and destroyed by the Ottomans. Many women deny to be enslaved.
They fall with their children into the waters of the Arapitsa River waterfall.
On March 25th, 1821, after four centuries of Ottoman occupation, the Greek Revolution broke out.
Greece, the mother of democracy, is FREE !
In this case it is not Zournás. It is Claríno. Which is used in Greek Traditional music since ca 1.800. It is a Clarinet. But the Böhm (or French) type of it. In modern symphonic orchestras a different type of Clarinet is used. That of the Ohler (or German) type.

The fateful song (according to others a lullaby) talks about a tragic event in 1822 in the holocaust of Naoussa in Greek Macedonia (and not the... island of Paros in the Cyclades), during the years of the Turkish rule in Greece. Several heroic women of the city then preferred (pursued by the Turks) to fall with their children into the Arapitsa river, rather than into their hands. It should be noted that Naoussa is a city in the Prefecture of Imathia today in the Region of North Greece of Central Macedonia.

Tis Naousas to Kastro means: At the castle of Naousa (a town)
The song is about the mass suicide of 60 Greek women and their children in the town of Souli, who were trapped by Ottoman soldiers, and they decided to die, rather than being abused by the ottoman enemy. They went to a cliff , joined hands sang and danced in a circle before jumping to their deaths one by one, still singing all the way.
