  • number of led is 8pcs on 1 piece, 30 pieces = 240pcs total, leds are ws2812b, at 100% brightnes and static white color it consumes 9A at 5V, when running animations and sound effects it is about half so 4-5A at 100% brightness.

    it is better to use slim version of led strip 5mm instead of regular 10mm if you want slim edges.

    I've never done anything like this before and im ready to spend money and try. This looks SICK

  • @bountyvault

    Ok, you literally just saved my life with this. I have spent all day trying to design a 3d print file and boom your video finally popped up. You have no idea how happy I am with you!

  • @40watt53

    Oh my god I've had an idea to do something like this for like 2 years now and this is finally the video I needed, thank you oh my god.

    This totally makes me think of inter dimensional travel from sci-fi 🤩👍

    I have a 13 foot dodecahedron covered in LEDs in my lawn right now, and now I have new ideas for it

    Realy nice project. Thank you for shareing this video. My project is a infinity cube by 30cm. I use 4mm acryl glas, cause the 2mm bent while aplying the mirror foil. I use a ws2801 led stripe with 32 led per meter controlled by a raspberry pi 3. I split the signal for every side (6) and make sure every opposite side gets the same signal at the same direction and same start point.

    Dude this is fantastic! Ive been making geomtric shapes for a while now but this really uses the full potential of the LEDs in combination with the dodecahedron. Would you put together a DIY kit including all th ematerials and sell it?

    So happy to have come across your video, I will be starting my project very soon! I am going to attempt the Icosahedron instead, do you believe your method will work on the different shapes? Also, where did you get your frame 3D printed at? I truly appreciate any information.

    well done man! looking to give this a go myself later on in the year, some questions if you dont mind. if you were to build this again what would you do different? the 3d printed plastic strips, how are the angles worked out dimensions etc? maybe you could point me in the right direction? Also how much did it cost to get those 3d printed(if you didn't use your own 3d printer). would there be any point making this out of glass or would that be an overkill?

    You should use defused lights so their is no pixel effect

    first time working with electrical components, what solder did you use, and what thickness of wires did you use to connect the strips together?

  • @mrhomely
    @mrhomely Před 4 lety +2

    im wondering on what strip is connected to what strip? what order did you solder each strip? my understanding is that you can only go from one strip to the next single strip. If so what was your strip wiring pattern?
