I have a 1990 2.3 4cyl with 8 plugs am having the same problem from last September i even do a engine swap and same thing been trough lots of Mechanics technicians and still nothing.i really like this truck and dont want to give up on it.
I'll have to check my Ranger for this as well because it's pretty moody about when it wants to start, been using a 12v outlet to a pair of alligators on the hot / ground of the fuel pump to move it to get it ready for cab mount replacements and even then it still doesn't like to start, it'll get there then crap out.
Thank you…I will try this. My 1993 ford ranger cranks but won’t start. I’ve changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, ignition coil packs, ecm, but not the fuel regulator. I’ll give it a try.
@@Daniel-sd9fo I have the part, but my personal mechanic had trouble getting it of and gave up. He moved the compressor like you did, but had trouble getting the screws off the regulator. Do you have any suggestions? By the way, I got it to start and after doing a fuel injection cleaning it’s starting consistently now. However, I still want to change the fuel regulator for assurance. Any further insight you can provide on removing it would be greatly appreciated.
This is exactly what my ranger is doing tested all injectors they all worked so now imma try the fuel pressure regulator tomorrow as soon as I get up thank you for the video
I have same year ranger . Its fires up fine cold, after I drive 10 miles or so it will stall (sometimes the middle of curve, trying to pullout, breaking) then it turnovers but no start . Normally I'd Wait 10 minutes, fires right up. Make it another 10 mile rinse and repeat. Lately with the weather being so hot, won't start for much longer or till the sun goes down . New fuel pump, IAC, Gas cap . You think maybe Fuel Regulator? Any thoughts? All advice and thoughts will be much appreciated!
@@nathansmith6628 I watched a video put out by south main auto it’s on a corvette that won’t start after being warmed up, it has to do with the fuel injectors not properly working. You should check it out I think that’s what’s wrong with mine, at least I’m hoping. I’ll let you know if it is.
I can't get mine started. I had an issue when it was running, engine light coming on and low power when I pedaled down. Parkrdit for a while, replaced the spark plugs and wires, now it won't even start. Even with starting fluid in the intake. Cranks, but nothing else. No idea! Any clues? I also put a new fuel filter in it recently.
Check the emergency fuel cutoff in the passenger floorboard mine gave me hell for a week then realized the guy that rides to work with me kicked the plug loose... stupid place for them to put it...
I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and cleaned out the gas tank. "Sea foamed" treated the fuel system. Replaced the pressure regulator. I then had to use starting fluid to help. It ran rough at first. I also checked coil packs and the throttle body. They were functioning.
Mine is turning over but won’t start. It hasn’t idled very well since I bought it. Here we go! Thanks!

Could be the maf or an air leak
