    Very nice boat. I have a 8' Walker Bay 2hp. Honda Minn Kota 28lb. Maximiser and Barkley Sound Oars set up for trolling a fly. Oh ya The Droug for slowing the boat downwind down the lake. Wow so much control without any effort. Makes for a wonderful drift. I made mine with a dollar store heavy duty bag some gangen and a karibeaner with some bubble wrap glued to the top of the bag. I don't think it matters much but it works. Anyways Ninn Kota makes one it it is a little slower than mine. Then I rip back up wind with motor and oars then repeat. I motor troll sometimes and that's how I got the big one's. But when it's really windy a Droug makes it easy to fish when everyone else is blown ashore. Great Channel well done 👍

    Very nice. If I leave it at a peer and it rains, how easy to get water out?

    • @pistolcreek
      @pistolcreek  Před 11 dny

      I would suggest covering it up in the rain. While a little rain won’t hurt it, you wouldn’t want it to fill up or have water standing in it for long periods of time. If you made sure to seal any screw holes up, that would be ideal. You just don’t want water getting inside the hull. It is filled with a styrofoam type material that will hold water if it gets wet inside the hull.

  • @chevyemert5655
    @chevyemert5655 Před 2 měsíci +1

    How you think that thing would do on some of the smaller rivers? I'm really considering something like this for the clinch, Holston, and little river.

    • @pistolcreek
      @pistolcreek  Před 2 měsíci

      They do fine in calmer stretches of water and deeper pools I would not try running one through super shallow water where it could get busted by a rock. Because of their shape, they are not great for speed or paddling against current. I have taken mine on the little river, but I made sure to hop out and wade through really shallow spots to protect the boat.

    • @chevyemert5655
      @chevyemert5655 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@pistolcreek I would be hoping out as well but I’m sure it would hit several rocks hiding right below the surface. We usually take a canoe but was hoping for something a little bit bigger and more roomy. So you think these guys just aren’t tough enough for the shoals?

    • @pistolcreek
      @pistolcreek  Před 2 měsíci +1

      They are somewhat durable, but a hard crash into a sharp rock might crack the hull. I have a friend who floats the Holston in a 10ft version of this boat when the water is up. He doesn’t have any issues, but also steers clear of super shallow spots. When it gets sketchy, hopping out and walking it through will do fine. I have to do that in the Little River. If you have two people, should be real easy to keep it out of rough spots. Look at both the Bass Pro Pond Prowler and the Pelican Bass Raider. Both are excellent boats. If you are able, visit Bass Pro and look at one in person to see the material up close. You may be able to find a used one for a couple hundred bucks. You may be aware, but if you add a trolling or gas motor, you will need to register the boat.

    • @pistolcreek
      @pistolcreek  Před 5 měsíci

      It’s manageable in calm conditions. You will want a long ore to make it easier to reach the water from the seat. They don’t cut through the water very well, due to the shape. Wouldn’t recommend trying to paddle it up river or on a very windy day.

      @ralphnash2517 Thank you! I appreciate that. You might try watching some other folks videos to see different motors. I personally went with the Honda for peace of mind. It’s not the most powerful or least expensive motor out there, but it’s quiet, light as a feather, and very dependable. Since I have owned it, it almost always starts on the first crank. It also runs for about an hour on 1 liter of fuel. I believe Mercury and Yamaha make 2.5 or 3hp motors as well. I first saw the Honda by watching the CZcamsr Nora JP Fishing. He has one on his little boat. Also check out a channel called Humbug Fishing. That fella has a Pond Prowler, too. He’s done some cool upgrades to his. Good luck. I think you will enjoy the boat. It’s so fun! If you have any other questions on gear, feel free to email me. My contact info is on the About page on this channel. Take care!

      Not here in my state. You just need the serial number from the back of the boat.

      What part of TN? I'm in East TN just got a pond prowler this week. Just curious how I'd do on area lakes/rivers

      @shanester8712 East Tennessee. It does great on any of the area lakes. Tennessee River is great too. I’d just avoid anything with swift current or shallow rocky areas that might bust the bottom.
