Each year our wildflower meadows, which we aim to cut for hay for our sheep, look different to the year before.
This year we've more flowers, particularly meadow buttercups, pignut, and orchids than ever before, and very early in the season. The flowers and grass heads are taller than ever. By the time I've got around to editing these clips into a short summary CZcams, all filmed on June 1st, the fields are already changing with new grasses and flowers appearing daily.
So far, we've had very poor weather for cutting hay, so most areas of the meadows are still standing. all the better for us and our swallows which love flying over these two fields for chafer grubs and other insects.
The whistling bird is one of our resident Red kites.
