I call this quality well-thought dynamics and this quality is frequently overlooked by today's generation of dancers, isn't it? I will definitely watch this video over and over again. I love Nina's work always, but where to land another gentleman like Andrei Uvarov, volleyball player height to deliver such a breathtaking classic dance... definition of elegance and excellence!!! Bravo!
I agree. Uvarov was one of my favourite dancers and could have carried on dancing for several more years in my opinion. He was the epitome of a noble prince.
Exactly.. I love him and Nikolai Tsiskaridze, both with that regal presence. Both danced at the same time, had the same choreographers and danced the same roles, both were awarded People's Artist of Russia award I believe in the same year. Both are my favorite. Nikolai also could have danced few more years if it wasn't for some not so pleasant thing happening at the company. But that is another story and has no place next to this beauty. And you are absolutely wonderful dancing with Andrei.
And now that I think of it, both rehearsed under Galina Ulanova who I am sure had some effect on their presence on stage and their grace and poise. By the way, is Andrei related to Count Uvarov? Best from San Francisco.
I saw Nina many times, but never saw Uvarov... I think he got the height of Nikolai... what a graceful and elegant classic dancer! (by the way, that famous arrogant ABT director from Russia, is 5'5, according to one insider) I am excited to learn that they both got coached by 加林娜·乌兰诺娃. Galina Sergeyevna Ulanova went to visit China more than once, and made ton of speeches and shows... no one does not know her name...she is the inspiration of China to create their own Central Ballet in 1950's.
@@user-py1jg6bb2r You are talking about Ratmansky, I can't stand him. He hates classical ballet and his choreography has a lot to be desired. Yes, Uvarov is as tall as Nikolai, very nice, good person and him and Nikolai were friends, dance in few ballets together. Not sure where he is now, haven't heard anything lately about him, I think he might be running a theater or ballet group.
Can't believe how great she is in the variation... look at her feet: every time her feet touch the floor is perfectly synchronized with the beats of the music.
