- Let's thrift for glass bowls! As per usual, there are so many beautiful glass bowls at the thrift store, and turning them into planters is an easy summer decor diy. I love giving new life to the bowls that have been donated, and what a great way to repurpose them as home decor!
If you don't want to drill holes into your bowls, you will need gravel/small rocks and charcoal, as these will help your plants thrive in their new container. The key to keeping plants alive, whether they have a drainage hole in the planter or not, is to be a great plant parent and keep a close eye on your new plant. By paying attention you are able to identify if it needs water, more sunlight, etc.

Hey Monica! Love the look of the plants in the glass bowls, so cute! Awesome job!
Hey Sarah! Thank you so much! I love doing this with plants, but I have to stop myself or my house will get crowded pretty quickly.😆
Loved this! I never thought to use glassware as planters. Definitely will keep this mind. My favorite was the tall clear glass.🥰
Thank you!🥰 It’s really fun, and totally works as long as it’s not a huge plant or one that needs a ton of water. The one in the tall glass is thriving!😁
Hi guys! Which bowl was your favorite? It's so fun to combine thrifting and gardening- I could do both all day! :)
I love the ivy bowl!!
Thank you!🥰 That one is one of my favorites too!
❤️ it superb ideas 👌👌
Thank you, my friend!🥰
Root rot or gnats definitely a concern. Do you add anything to bottom?
I have found that using small rocks/pebbles and coal or ashes from a fire work really well as a base for the soil.
Thankfully I haven’t had any gnats with these plants, but I’ve had to be very careful with root rot with the succulents. The pothos are thriving! 💚
Wish u could figure out a way to put holes in the bottom of the glass dishes for drainage. Sooo many beautiful thrift ones we could all use!
