Still unbelievable how much the landscape has changed. Love the chant.
Thank you for these videos Gabe! My husband and I visited this area in November 2016- we rented a house in Vacationland and explored the coastline down to Uncle Robert’s and biked on to the lava viewing area, and all around Volcanoes National Park. We fell in love with the area and when the lava started flowing last year I watched updates every day and was heartbroken. It’s amazing to see how the land has changed and I appreciate you showing us! Mahalo from Alabama 🤗
Let make this the most popular comment. For no reason

Thank you for the tour of the trail that is open at least you get an idea of how things are. Beautiful trail.
Thanks for sharing your love of the island Gabe...my husband and I are coming for 3 wks in April...can’t wait to see it in person...and getting away from the cold and all the snow we are getting right now in Ontario Canada...🇨🇦
Great to see new life taking hold in the caldera! & Thanks for this vid!
Breath taking trek, fascinating how plant life survives in such a hostile environment, must be a resistant to the sulphur dioxide in the air or have acclimated maybe evolved. You do live in and on an amazing island, thanks Gabe for the video look forward to the next. Aloha. 😎😁
Thanks Gabe, easy to hear in your voice and see through your eyes how much you love living there. Always look forward to your updates on island life. Mahalo brother 👍
It's amazing to see after watching the volcano last summer. The new life growing and blooming already is amazing . Thanks for sharing this with us.
That's pretty wild stuff--Nature at one of it's rawest forms.
Oh my! Great footage! Beautiful! Thankyou for sharing, we love you too!
Don't forget that us seniors with a National Park pass get in with our pass. :D Mahalo Gabe!
we are so lucky!
Thank you for taking us along on your hike, Gabe
Thanks Gabe! Glad to share this with you!
Thanks Gabe. Love walking with ya.
Hi, Gabe! I still find it beautiful. Thanks for sharing it.
Wow, thanks Gabe. It's so cool to see this stuff, I could never afford to travel to see. Again Thanks Bro!
Interesting hike Gabe! It really gets narrow through that one section. The view at the bottom really gives a feel for how big and wide the caldera is. Wow!
Interesting video, thank you! “Red to black” is awesome!
I wish one day could visit there
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing...time for me to go take a hike...ALOHA
Handy to know I can eat loads of Thai curry the night before I visit this caldera, & blame it on the Sulfur. 😉😉
Great to see your cheery face mate, you are looking well.
Mahalo for sharing this very pretty trail with us. 🤙🏽
Thanx 4 your vids))) They R always great!
Wowzers! Thanks for trip Amigo ^^,
Mahalo. So very amazing.
Thank you for your video. Looking at the history of the island it interesting the different times the lava has flowed and to where.
Nice hike....best to you, Gabe
At this very moment, I am truly jealous. But thankful you're able to enjoy it for us.
awesome and thank you
Very neat. I am glad they are starting to open up areas again. I look forward to walking around up there as I will be on the island at the beginning of April. Although great videography, it is not the same as being there...that “new” deeper caldera looks like it’s comparable to the Grand Canyon...😃🌈🤙
Thanks man, takes me back. Mahalo.
hi gabe..thanks for this one.love. to see stuff..25 seems like a lot for. locals.i was one once.
Gorgeous trail ! Still closed when we were there in October, definitely be doing that hike in May 😊🤙🏽
Amazing to even be able to hike on the caldera at all!. Years ago I did part of the Kilauea Iki trail and I still carry that in my heart.
Great job☺️👍
Aloha Gabe, hoping all is well with you? We havn't seen or heard from you much. Trust all is well, mahalo.
I'm doing good thank you
I think that we should plan a channel/group trip to Hawaii and have Gabe take us on that trail and give us a tour of his homestead and take us to the black beach just to name a few of the beautiful places he has shown us on his videos.
Thanks gabe,,way cool
Gabe Thanks for posting and hope Pele takes a long nap
I love seeing all the young Ohia trees popping up.
Mahalo Gabe, cool seeing Caldera Wall and crater floor. Loved the walk in too.
Thanks Gabe that was a great hike and that trail is super beautiful mahalo
Agree regarding the contrast)))
We had a catastrophic flooding event here in Townsville, 1.7 meters of rain fell over a 13 day period. Things changed here as well. I said to my mum as she headed down to the river [Ross River] for a run "don't expect the river to be the river that was, it has been changed". Same with the Big Island... "the island that was [before the eruption] is not the same island now", it's personality has been reshaped in some ways. So now we get to watch them regrow into some new and possibly unexpected... 😊
I enjoyed your video. I was hoping you could go farther. Love you . Take care.
Awesome Gabe! Approximately how high is the caldera wall from the caldera flour?
Gave, your videos an comments are the best. For several years we rented a cottage on the tide pools and understand it was buried
In the lava flow. We are here for the month of march. Is it possible to get to the tide pool area now?
the tide pools are covered in 30' of lava rock
I pray thing continue getting better
HI - cool hike! Beautiful!
help us be oriented - are you at the old parking lot and hike down to the caldera floor - but not to the new floor that the drained lava lake created?
thanks
When did they open this trail. I was there in 2004 and don't remember a trail into the cauldra.
Aloha to all from the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne Australia.
How is Hawaii today?
I would walk there, but I’m an eel.
maybe next time
Aloha Gabe
Did you get any permanent side effects from all the breathing of all the smoke that you had to breathe over the last year?
not that I can tell
@@gabehumphries5483 that's wonderful to hear Aloha to you
Do a lot of people/tourists die or emergencies walking trails like they do in O'ahu? Falls/not bring enough water...
Is all the native stuff Native revival or did their customs never go out of fashion?
hi and aloha..I hear CZcams will no longer let us leave comments...sorry everyone..maybe not true..hope not
please excuse phone hacker everyone..anything could show up that isn't me.....love ya
Thing are look better
