I wanted to share a HUGE THANK YOU to Lisa J for sending me three of the eye brushes I didn’t pick up, as well as the sponge! Thank you, Lisa!!!
I bought all the brushes you see in this video, and I present a review and demo of all the brushes in this haul. I do make comparisons to Fude, NOT TO BE MEAN. Ppl always ask me what the difference is, and I wanted to showcase those comparisons. Overall, I really love these for cream and liquid application. I might not use them for powder, but my foundation and concealer routine greatly benefits from these tools.

Awesome real-time application shots 😊 Also I really, really love that you've kept your peach fuzz. I have a similar amount of natural fuzziness. It's 100% normal, but so many makeup youtubers get rid of it and you can't tell how a product or brush might interact!

Looking forward to trying these foundation brushes. My two foundation brushes that I can’t live without are a Juvias Place (the burgundy one) one and a BH Cosmetics (from their 2018 Christmas collection). I was actually bummed to get those two brushes as gifts because I only purchase high end ones but was very very impressed and they have become my favs!!! The hairs and quality of them look identical to these your reviewing. The thing that makes them special to me is like you said you can press the foundation into the skin sooo nicely.
Yes! I definitely prefer synthetic over natural when it comes to foundation. And I suppose it depends because I do love my GSN 2, but I feel with synthetic I can use less products and still get gravest coverage.

I was so curious about your thoughts on the BK beauty brushes bc I've seen Cate the Great Beauty and Michelle Wang using them. Lots of great info. You totally got me to up my brush game and I really love the rephr and Sonia G brushes I've purchased, but I do still grab my Everyday Minerals synthetic kabuki brush for foundation. It's soft, easy to clean and feels good in your hand. Everybody has a preference and you have to go with what works for you.

These are the only synthetic brushes I have loved. I prefer my natural hair brushes, but I use these for cream products and to grab if my other brushes are dirty. I have really enjoyed them and I am glad I purchased them ❤️

Thanks so much, Alicia! Although I own a couple of Hakuhodo brushes, I'm still looking for synthetics because I would prefer to be able to wash my brushes right away as I have seborrheic dermatitis. Sponges were ideal with pouncing for minimal contact on skin; however, drying time takes too long after washing, and I find it to be wasteful - have to toss it out every few months or so. I need soft bristles 😭
Yes! And I also find it tricky to travel with sponges as well 😪 I would like to try Hakuhodo’s synthetics as well!

@@aliciaarcher I think you'll like it, it's got this nice slanted curve to it that's perfect for blending under the chin. It did lift my sunscreen on one occasion, when blending in my foundation but that was just my user error 🤓
I just purchased the 101 brush and received it last week. It is a gorgeous brush. It’s pretty much replaced all of my other foundation brushes!! Great video, Alicia!!

I love the softness of the BK beauty brushes. My one comment is a lot of them are too floffy...not great for harder textures and control how much you pick up. I actually love all the Marc Jacobs brushes!
I observed the floppiness in some of the designs as well, but I found they are still soft like you said!
I bought the BK Beauty Essential Brush Set when they were on sale. I am so glad I did. They’re great brushes; super soft and functional. I have higher end brushes like Repher and Wayne Goss brushes these perform just as good. Next sale I’m going to purchase the Precision Collection.
I prefer my Rephr and Wayne Goss brushes for powder application, and eyeshadow blending. I think these are great for cream application, and I’ve been using the 108 to blend out my concealer!
Great review! I am spoiled with Sonia G brushes now. It’s hard for me to use synthetic brushes especially since I’m over 40 now and my skin is more mature. Thank you!

Natural hair is a must for me with shadow and blush. Otherwise, it will get patchy and muddy looking. I occasionally use synthetic brushes for foundation. Thanks for the review.

I know this comment is like wayyy over the time this video was made but I was researching brushes. I hate ordering online bc you never get to see the product first... anyways... ive been doing research and came across your video. I have wayne goss brushes and they are fantastic BUT they are 4 years old. Still work great but bristles are starting to fan out (i mean 4 yrs, its done its job lol) This definitely helped my decision to go with AGAIN natural hair brushes for my eyeshadow. Yes they cost more...but well worth it. Especially if they last 4 years like my wayne goss has. Thank you for this in-depth review!
So now that you know I’ve gotten into painting (thanks for your lovely comment on my IG), imagine having a passion for brushes for my face AND for art. So funny cause natural & synthetic brushes have their place in both worlds, depending on your medium & goal. At this point, I honestly think my most expensive brush is for watercolors (& I do own the Sonia G eye set for context, lol.) Great video! I might get these cause I have larger hands & I like substantial handles on my brushes. Gracias!

Thank you for this review! You saved my money! I`ll pass as I don`t think they will add a lot of value to my brushes collection as I have some others that I love (Sonia G, Wayne Goss, Chikuhodo, Surratt...). Even Marc Jacobs. The only one I might be interested is in the one for cream blush.

I thought I was the only one who noticed the tugging of synthetic eye blending brushes 🙈 reason why I don’t love most Sigma brushes. I feel like I have to blend much less with a natural brush. Im still curious about these and Im so sad I missed their sale 😭

I have the sets over time...I use them for cream products since I don’t want to use fuse with cream...even if they say it is ok...because I do not want to have to wash them that often. They have a place in collection. They have replaced some of my other synthetic brushes.

I bought her eye brushes I like them so far. I can use them in-between my sonia and wayne goss. I want her foundation brush but it sold out. I did get her powder brush cause I always see mel Thompson use it.
The powder brush is great, but I definitely would always reach for a natural bristle.

Waking up to a new video🙌. I need some synthetic brushes for my cream products since I’ve been getting into cream products and I don’t like using my natural undyed goat hair ones and I’m worried about damaging them having to clean them everyday. Plus I’m just not a sponge girl. For the Fenton cream bronzer what is your favorite brush? The BH or something else??
I really like the BK 107, and Fenty’s 125! Also, the Marc Jacob Brushes are 👌🏽
I thoroughly enjoyed this review as I was planning on purchasing some of these brushes, but I am not anymore. I have enough synthetic brushes and I think I rather save my mula to buy that 🦊 hair set. By the way have you ever seen Breezy Tee? She owns a company selling Turbans.

Hi Alicia, I much needed your review on BK Beauty brushes, I am in search for a good brush for cream bronzer and blush. I know you have new Fenty 125 brush, how do you compare it with BK beauty blush or contour brush? I also have all Thrive brushes , some of the BK brushes are identical to Thrive. I love my Thrive brushes, they are good too for synthetic options. 💕
I need to take a look at thrive! The fenty shape is very unique and does not exist in the BK collection. I definitely will get back with a comparison!
I just ordered 3 BK Beauty brushes today, the 101 contour brush that GlamGirlChelsea loves, the 106 buffer brush and the tiny smudge it brush.

I'm SO late to the game, but this video was SO HELPFUL, particularly the part where you compared the synthetic eye brush to the natural hair brushes that you own. I'm new to the natural hair brush world and was absolutely someone who didn't understand the difference. This video totally changed that!
I'm thinking about starting out w/ a natural hair brush to apply foundation with because all the brushes I've tried are super prickly on my sensitive skin. The only one I've seen used often on CZcams is the Rephr 17 brush, but I personally prefer a more domed brush, like the BK beauty ones in this video. Do you have any that you would suggest?
I love the BK 106, and the contoured foundation of course, or the Marc Jacobs Face II. Hakuhodo has synthetics that I want to try as well!

I find applying my eye makeup with my Bdellium & Omnia synthetic brushes very easy, I dont have any struggle with skipping or anything. They blend like a dream so idk cant relate to what you are saying about the BK brushes. Perhaps they are worse than Bdellium.

Alicia dare I say (In my Alicia voice), the Chikuhodo FO Series feels softer than the Z Series? Could this be? I have the FO-4 and the Z-8 but considering the FO-1 or the Z-9, thoughts?
Ooooooo you know Jesselin 😏😏😏 I was using my fox brushes today, and there is a plushiness to them that I feel I don’t get from the Z series. Z series is more featherlight, but I agree the fox bristles are exquisite. I think you will be happy either way, but I would go for the FO 1
Ahhhhhmazing review Alicia. I’m so pleased you mentioned the large powder brush being prickly....the only influencer I’ve heard say this👏🏻, because I was thinking i got a dodgy one. Overall I think the brushes are ok btbh I don’t reach for them but I kinda knew that before I ordered them so I’m not mad and my 11 year old loves them. I’ve had my hourglass no7 finishing kabuki brush for around 6 years and it’s still my favourite brush for liquid, cream, stick foundation. Thank you Alicia
Thank you, Julie! Everyone’s experience is unique, but I had to share that observation from my end. I do love them for creams and liquids, and I look forward to finding portions of my routine that I can use then with. I have to check out the No7!

Hello! I keep rewinding the video to see the Chikuhodo fox brush and z brushes (already watched your other Chikuhodo brush videos several times). If you lost your fox and z brushes and had to only choose 2 fox brushes and 2 z brushes to start replacing them, which ones would you choose? Do any of these brushes compare to the rephr P22? I really want that brush, but its $110, just wondering which one of these comes the closest to that rephr brush?
I’m afraid not! The P22 is unlike any brush that exists in this collection. It’s beyond soft, and feels like silk on the skin. And also, it’s some densely packed, without being too stiff! These brushes are on the floppy side, and don’t have the same movement quality.
