Hi, i want to ask, if this dac have enough power to lift up hd800s with iphone? Did u have experienced combine this dac, iphone 11 pro, hd800s ? Is it even catch up that setup with desktop setup hd 800s with hdv820? Thank u 🙏

Also, it's not 100% clear to me as I havent used DAC's before, do they actually increase the volume output of mobile devices (this one & the DragonFly Red)? I have a few iOS & Android devices (phone & tablets) and the volume output feels 10-20% too low on all of them. I'm using PXC550 & Airpods Pro mostly...
Short answer is yes. All DACs amplify volume. The good ones amplify more than the cheaper ones. For a more balanced and cleaner sound I would recommend the thx onyx.

Well the same dac chip is their in shanling ua2. Which costs half of THX and it also have 2.5 balanced output option ... Indication LED is their and alos the tha DAC comes with replaceable usb cable which meen you can buy lightning to usb c cable and eliminate all other plugs .... If you have one i would like to compair it with THX

But none of them support MQA ...if you got time please make video on MQA vs flac

Hello. So i listen to alot of music on CZcams. I find my wireless bose 700 sounds good but is never as loud as i want. I have a wired gaming headset that i can use providing the thx will increase the quality and volume. If CZcams is the source, will it do these things? Also, is there an adapter that would allow you to use my Bluetooth bose 700 with this? Thank you
i'm not sure i know of any wireless DACs to be honest... i would switch to wired headphones if you are serious about sound quality. Lossless wireless audio does not exist yet but i heard it's something that Apple is working on using their ultra wideband chip but that's not gonna come out for a while. In the meantime if you get the Onyx you can connect them to your wired gaming headset and yes it will improve volume and quality provided you are listening to HD quality music on CZcams but you will need to pay for the upgraded CZcams premium if you don't have it already!
@Killyang Thanks for the quick response! Yes I decided I'm going to get the onyx. For the time being, I have a cheaper Sennheiser gaming headset that I can use until I upgrade. I'm looking at the Sennheiser HD 650 set!
@Killyang one more question as I just ordered the onyx. I read that it uses up alot of battery from the phone. Is is possible to get one of those USB c adapters with a hub so I can charge at the same time while using?

But, really, I just recently bought the first Apple product I've ever owned in my entire life, and the learning curve is a bit steep, though it's beginning to level out a little bit. I'm a musician, but I also worked in the film industry for 8 or so years (spent some months studying at Tony Barr's Film Actor's Workshop, took film classes at USC in the 90s, worked for Paramount Pictures from '96-'02, was a set lighting tech on two movies, and was an extra in a film and a commercial), so I can tell anyone without hesitation that, if you're any kind of performing artist and ever want to capture what you do on film or video or if you are a recording artist, then you want to use the best software to edit/master your work, and, by and large, the best software for working with either visual or musical expressions are, AVID, and Pro Tools, respectively, both of which were developed and are largely used as native apps on Apple hardware. I've been building my own computers since the late '80s, and, obviously, they've all been PCs mostly running Windows, with a few Linux distros in there for good measure. Back in the early-/mid-'80s, I worked for a hard disk manufacturer in Irvine that not only created the disks which supplied 40% of the entire world supply of 3.5" and 5.25" hard disks at the time (including 60% of Seagate's entire inventory) from bulk, blank aluminum substrates, but also made every machine which made the disks! There were two exceptions, and that was on 2 burnish machines (out of about 10 of them) which were controlled by Apple IIe-s, and those two computers ran and ran and ran...AND RAN! If those two machines went down, it wasn't because of anything wrong with the computers controlling them. So, here I am struggling with my new iOS 16 iPad Pro 12.9", BUT, my phones are still Androids, because, much like the PCs I still build, I can take 'em apart and do things with them that I can't do with MACs, iPhones, or iPads, because of the proprietary nature of the hardware. Anyhow, I have recently purchased the Barracuda Pro headset and the THX ONYX, and they both just arrived today, so, while my headphones are charging up, I found your video, and, refreshingly, you actually described a audio product in terms of its sound reproduction qualities as primary aspects, and bitched about the connector issues last, rather than, SPOILER, the other way around as most CZcamsr "audiophiles" do. So, I'll be watching your other content in the future, as I respect your analysis and your "ear." Illegitimi non carborundum, dude! And, get an Android! Lol...later ;-)
Thanks for the feedback! You wrote up quite a paragraph there : D the good news is the iPhone 15 is finally getting USB-C when it's out later this year. Also Apple continues to improve the DAC that is built in the iPhone, not suggesting that you don't need to use an aftermarket DAC anymore but it just means that you need to use a good one for the improvements in sound to really stand out like this THX Onyx.
How would this translate to a PC gaming application? It seems every dac out side of a motherboard built for gaming seems to be far better for music then games.
I would agree that the primary purpose of a DAC is better sound quality for listening to music first, movies second and gaming third. So if you are considering buying a DAC only for gaming, you probably would be better off investing in higher quality headphones first. Hope that helps!

Hello, does yours show yellow leds when quality is higher than 48kHz ? Mine only shows blue leds, no matter the source :(
That’s weird. Try something that’s significantly higher like 192 kHz and see if that works
