Bubble and squeak is very British but not part of a full English, you're more likely to get hash browns
27 years experience of being British here and there’s never been bubble and squeak offered with a full English breakfast
I've seen it before but only a couple of times. It is rare, hash browns are definitely more common.
I've never had bubble + squeak but I thought it was meant to be the leftovers of a full English? That's what my friends have told me anyway
@@snookerwither9955 bubble and squeak is an amalgamation of ingredients left over from christmas roast dinner typically, not a full english
My only other tiny critique is the eggs. It might be regional but I've never seen anyone in the UK flip a fried egg 😂
I'd say the hash browns are a lot more common with a full english over here than bubble and squeak. The latter is mainly had as a separate breakfast by using leftovers from a sunday roast and cracking an egg on top.
Ah a man of culture. Hello!
I could hear your accent while reading this. Cheers.

We definitely use hash browns instead of bubble and squeak. Also, blood sausage and black pudding are not the same thing. You need to get hold of some Bury Black Pudding and give that a try. Absolute game changer.
They are the same.
@@cumdinewitme They really aren't. I eat black pudding a lot and I have eaten many different types of blood sausage. It's like saying cheddar and stilton are the same because they're both made of milk
Big up bury black pudding
yessss
Hash browns are sadly more common now but are a more recent addition, Bubble & squeak is more traditional.
If you liked the black sausage (or “pudding” as it’s often called), you should try white pudding as well!
What's white pudding
@@alexsolomons2996 White pudding is very similar to black pudding, minus the blood. It usually contains suet and oatmeal or barley, and occasionally meat or liver, packed in sausage casing.
Yeah, i like white pudding better. It basically tastes the same but without pennies lol
More typically found in a full Irish breakfast.
I've always preferred white pudding. Though I only really eat it in Ireland. I barely find it in Britain.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone call sausage “bangers” so many times without it being followed by mash
I think it's just a bit of British slang which Americans liked to assume we say it for every sausage meal.
@jack wilde no we also very rarely call sausages bangers anymore unless it's then followed by "and mash" .
@@blightygames no. I, as an American, assume the Brittish just finish every sentence with "bangers and mash" the same way we finish every sentence with "yall". Ex, 'oight mate. Were going daun to te abbey taday, bangers and mash.
@@JKSSubstandard I love how every American has to try and accentuate their "British" sentences with old-timey linguistics. Not like we actually learn correct English
But yes, we don't say bangers unless it's with mash. Otherwise, it's just sausage.
Same for the "blood sausage" which is black pudding.
That bacon also isn't our bacon as ours is the medallion with the streak.
I've also never seen a full English with bubble and squeak.
@@matthewramsey6945 fell for an obvious joke
Probably already mentioned, but hash browns are perfectly acceptable on a full English, probably even more common than bubble and squeak, which I've never seen at breakfast.
Aside from that, just missing a bit of brown sauce, or maybe ketchup, then you're all set!
Was going to say im English and bubble and squeak is from years ago we don't if ever apply that to our dish now that was more popular in the 70s
@@jaycuthbert245 Yeah, bubble and squeak is more of a leftovers thing - although my favourite fry-up places do bubble and squeak AND hash browns!
Hash browns are sadly more common now but are a more recent addition, Bubble & squeak is more traditional.
Wait you eat this with ketchup?
@@Chadius_Thundercock some people do, I prefer brown sauce
We english never flip our eggs. Sunny is the only acceptable up side.
With all the fog and dreariness, I can see why an egg is the only sun you get.

What brand of griddle does Babish use in this video?
Being from England, Bubble and Squeak is usually made from left-overs from a Sunday dinner (or Sunday roast) so you don’t usually get it on a full English however wouldn’t be bothered if it showed up on the plate, we’d still eat it all 😂
I think this is regional. Its very common to see Bubble and Squeak as part of fry up in cafe menus down here
We have hash browns where I am, but agreed that we'd still eat the B&S if it was on the plate. Maybe not this B&S though because cooking it without a sunny side up egg in the centre is a crime.

Ah, so it's kinda the equivalent of when we make a turkey and stuffing sandwich with our Thanksgiving leftovers.
Bubble and squeak is offered with a full English at many of the places I’ve eaten at. Not sure why people are saying otherwise

Bubble and Squeak is different in the UK.. in wales it’s your Sunday roast all mashed down into an lumps and clumps (so the chicken, potatoes, veg etc all crushed up) and then added an egg and mix and fry like an omelet. It’s lovely, specially with the crispy and soft parts. I put some ketchup on the side and it just adds to the flavour. You can do some salt and pepper too if wanted.
Also you cooked the tomatoes weirdly. The second way you done the tomatoe is correct and how it’s done here.
“It’s lovely.” Hmmm… I’m sold based on that description 😂
@@1dudecrush it is lovely :) is that not a normal way to describe something? Haha
That's what I've always known bubble and squeak to be where I'm from...I guess the West Midlands is as close to Wales as you can get so it sorta makes sense. Babish just made a fishcake but forgot to add the fish :)
Bubble and squeak is basically what I eat in the days after Christmas. My family tend to keep the meat separate, just mixing up all the veg and then you can get however many slices if turkey and beef you want.
I always love a full english breakfast and try to make one at least once a week!
I wanna try black pudding so bad. It sounds delicious! Ive also been curious about haggis since we cant get that here either 😔

No. Bubble an squeak is what you have for breakfast on Monday morning after a roastie. It absolutely DOES NOT belong on a Full English. It's left-over roast potatoes and any left-over veg, mixed together and fried in one big pancake. It's called Bubble and Squeak because whilst frying, it bubbles and squeaks.
And its traditional on a full English
We definitely use hash browns instead of bubble and squeak
A pretty decent job. I was curious if you would know to do the fried bread.
Blood sausage or black pudding as it is commonly refered to in England can do with a bit longer to get some crispness/texture on the outside so it has a nice dark black sear.
Never in 43 years seen bubble and squeak on a full English breakfast.

I thought "blood sausage" (black pudding what we call it) was part of a full Irish very little different between the two I had the understanding that blood sausage was Irish and the hash brown was English
Blood based food seems to be involved with every European country in some national capacity… I mean, what else were they to do with all the blood back in the day, let it go to waste?
So I’d think hash and or black pudding would be a staple, since it’s dense and “healthy” (to a point).
Its hash browns for a full English. Also black pudding is different to blood sausages. If this is your take on a English fry please don't do an Irish fry up.

We don't call that Canadian Bacon in Canada, those are slices of ham. What we call Canadian Bacon is also know as Peameal Bacon and is similar to the back bacon in the 1st. Canadians are still shocked when travelling to the US, seeing Canadian Bacon on a menu and getting ham.

Bubble and squeak is traditional on a full English. Hash browns have started replacing it in pubs and cafes etc. Right about the rest though. Also need Toast as well as fried bread.
That American breakfast is essentially the perfect hangover breakfast.

Wondering if you could talk about how you take care of your butcher block countertops? Are they sealed with something food safe? How do you keep the wood from warping? How do you sanitize without damaging them?

Bubble and squeak is extremely rare for a full English, hash browns are more common. Bubble and squeak is made using leftovers of roast dinners or similar, being an amalgamation of meat, potato and vegetables fried off then normally covered in Gravy

Bubble and squeak isn't usually part of a full English, as others have said, it could be replaced with hash browns, but you don't necessarily need potatoes. Also, sausages are only called bangers when accompanied by mash, otherwise they are just sausages.
