    What are your thoughts on Hydroxyapatite? My husband has been using it but I have not made the transition yet.
    If I were to do a "MIY" project, would "Calcium Hydroxyapatite" be ok to replace it?
    Thanks for all your videos. I have been a fan for a very long time. I'm so happy to see your face and voice in the videos.

      I live in Spain and buy online locally. I've bought it from cremas-caseras.es and other places have also had it here. You'd have to do a local search of cosmetics supply companies that may have it. SCI is another option if you can't find it. I tried it myself after someone else asked about it. (I've also seen it listed in toothpaste ingredients before.)

    hi, if i wanted to use fluoride, how much would i need to add or which ingredient would i need to swap out ? also these essential oils, are they the same ones we use for diffusers? thanks!

    • @Thethingswellmake
      @Thethingswellmake  Před 10 měsíci +1

      If you are using a quality essential oil made by distillation or cold pressing (NOT a fragrance oi), yes, you can use the same ones that you use in a diffuser. (Some diffusers are sold with fragrance oils or oils labeled as EO's that aren't true essential oils!)

    • @Thethingswellmake

      As for the fluoride- I don't know. My family has avoided fluoride for the last 20 years and haven't had a cavity since. (Ours were all from when we still used it.)
      What source of fluoride are you using? You'd have to check the dosage instructions of whatever you bought and add it as specified. I'm not sure what form they would sell fluoride- you'd have to play with the recipe and adjust, as needed, depending on the format sold.

    Hii, can i substitute sodium cocoyl glutamate by Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) or SODIUM COCO-SULFATE (SCS)? And what do you think about add a preservative like sodium benzoate?

    • @Thethingswellmake
      @Thethingswellmake  Před rokem +3

      They should both be fine. I'd personally choose SCI over SCS. It's often used in toothpaste too, actually, and I tried it and has a mild flavor so it works well. 🤣🤣
      I don't think it needs the sodium benzoate. Sodium benzoate on its own isn't really a full spectrum preservative anyway. I'd have to re-research it to know at what pH it works and what microbes it does protect against, but my guess is that it wouldn't provide much benefit at this pH anyway. (I could be wrong here- that's a guess- so don't quote me on that. 🤣🤣🤣)

    • @Thethingswellmake
      @Thethingswellmake  Před 7 měsíci +1

      If you use oil, the tablets won't dry and get hard. You could make a toothpaste with the oil instead of the glycerin, though.

    Does the sodium cocoyl glutamate need to be food grade?
    All the ones I see are for bath products nothing about toothpaste.
    Can I use the powder version?

    • @Thethingswellmake
      @Thethingswellmake  Před 10 měsíci

      No. They probably would never label them food grade because you aren't meant to ingest it. (In this case, you should spit it out.) I've only used surfactants I've seen used in commercial toothpastes, though, and it should be cosmetic grade.
      This is used in a very small amount. Any remaining surfactant in your mouth is negligible.
      Yes, you can use either liquid or powdered versions. The powder will be more concentrated, so you won't need to add much. Adjust your water accordingly to get the desired texture.

      You want to use only water for this recipe so that it properly dries. (You can add a few drops of essential oil for flavor, but don't want much.)
