Gloria could have Scorbunny as her first pokémon, while Alister would catch Sobble while traveling with Ash Not sure about full teams, but I feel like they'd at least have the following: Gloria- Raboot/Cinderace, G-Max Eevee, Greedent OR G-Max Orbeetle Alister- G-Max Gengar, Sinistea/Polteageist, Drizzile/Inteleon

Not to mention many trainers who specialized in a certain type of Pokemon had Pokemon outside of that type, Misty had Togepi; Brock had Crobat, Forretress, Croagunk, and Chansey; Iris had Emolga and Excadrill; Cilan had Crustle and Stunfisk; Clemont had Bunnelby and Chespin; Lana had an Eevee. It was probably even more but that's just off the top of my head

For the centiscorch, I'd like to see it be caught in kabu's gym challenge. A bit fiesty, and it having a little beef with rillaboom because both of it's typings are super effective against rillaboom.
I wouldn't mind seeing ash with one. Tho frosmoth could also work. It's a majestic ice bug and it would give ash more experience with friendship evolutions since, u know, ash is all about bonding with his Pokemon
My idea for ash’s perfect galar team would be pikachu, dark urshifu, corviknight, colossal, Intelion and appletun. Team rockets would be morgrem and Cramorant. Maby they would have a galar yamask and drednaw.

I remember seeing that Rookidee in the Dracovish capture episode and it feels so bad that he doesn't have one! Definitely think this is exactly what the team would be in a more traditional format with some solid stories around them, particularly with Urshifu/Piers

Interesting team with well balanced types. I love how everyone can Gigantamax so therefore everyone feels like the ace in their own right, great follow up to Alola, for sure. As for Sinnoh promo, Torterra & Infernape could easily mentor Rillaboom while he's a Thwackey.

I like your Galar team for Ash a lot. I had a somewhat of a similar idea for Ash's team if he went to Galar. I had Ash's team be Pikachu, Corviknight, Rillaboom, Inteleon, Coalossal and Sirfetch'd.

It´s cool to see that there´s still SwSh videos. I personally think that a great team (and story would be): Pikachu - Like always. Rillaboom (as the ace of the team) - Because it fits a lot with Ash in terms of personality and fast fighting style and because it would be cool to see him having a badass Rillaboom (with Hop getting inteleon and Goh cinderace because I can´t see Hop with cinderace). Then the three of them could go train at the isle of armor (Ash to train, Hop to do research from the begining because Klara has to take the role of rival in the isle of armor and to get Hop and Goh as part of Project Mew investigating the galarian birds, starting for Moltres since it´s dark type and the tower that Ash will choose is also the dark type to make Urshifu find it and fight againts it, that way connecting both story lines). Then see them go through Mustard trials and training in general to give their other pokemon the gmax factor. It could work because Hop could be the one telling them about the isle of armor (since Leon went there but never finished it, it could be a good motivation for Ash to want to go there and also meet the person that trained Leon). Then the mission to get urshifu to gmax could be given to Ash after he wins the third trial againts Klara. Toxtricity - I know he doesn´t catch electric types to not overshadow pikachu but the way I see it working is by having Ash receiving toxel as an egg and then having pikachu acting as a mentor figure for a bratty toxel (since it´s literally a toxic baby) that then gets admiration towards pikachu and later on evolves into toxtricity during a gym battle. And one that already has the gmax factor. Ash could use it more as a poison type to not overshadow pikachu but with him having it´s arc from learning his signature move and winning againts Piers in a rematch (with him joining that pokemon band called the maximizers that Piers probably owns to make room for Urshifu) . Corviknight because it is a great addition to the team and can use gmax (maybe having a rivalry with hop´s own corviknight). That´s how they meet. Runerigus (because if Ash is going to get a ghost type and a galarian form/regional evolution, I think it makes more sense to give him this pokemon that already fills both roles without taking two slots on his team like farfetch´d and gengar currently do (and put these two in Rinto´s team since he is a cool rival along with his gallade). Dracovish (with ash finding the mysterious fossils and creating much more build up and mystery about which of the four fossils he is going to get) and it also keeps the dragon type in the team without overlapping with another dragon type since they´re pretty OP. With dragonite also in Rinto´s team. Urshifu single strike style (I already explained how he gets it). And finally cramorant. I know I just mentioned the thing about the type overlap but it´s not an OP pokemon and it could work amazingly well as a comic relief character since it eats a lot just like Ash (probably steeling food from him), with the contrast between how badass corviknight is and how funny cramorant looks and it would be hilarious to see it using surf or dive and getting Pikachu. By the way, the clothes you gave Ash in the thumbnail look so much better than what he wears in Pokemon Journeys. Also, sorry for the long comment.
Honestly, if we were going based on patterns, he would have all 3 Starters. Johto was the last time we saw him have all 3 up until Unova, Hoenn and Kalos restricted him to one and then Sinnoh and Alola gave him two. It would only make sense seeing the pattern from this perspective. Obviously I agree on Pikachu and Corviknight and I think it'd be better for Ash to go with Water-Style Urshifu seeing as he's a go with the flow type of battler like Goku is: thinking of situations in the moment and flowing with that same rhythm. As to how he would be inspired to do so: Marnie would berate Ash for battling with such wild tactics that obviously didn't work on Piers and that is why he lost. She would then suggest Ash train with Mustard and bring up needing to find his old flow and rhythm again as his battle with Piers shook him up more than any battle before. It would give Mustard the idea of giving Ash Kubfu and telling him to train with it and mimic its movements like the waves on the beach or in the sea in general as a callback to how he fought Brawly in the rematch for the Knuckle Badge and thus inspire the Water-Style Evolution
Plus the fire starter pattern, Charizard, Quilava, None, Infernape, Pignite, None, Incineroar, then it means that he should get a Raboot and leave it that stage

I think my team would be: Pikachu, Corvinight, Rillaboom, Centiskorch, Dracovish and Urshifu. Then in rotation with them Sirfetch’d, Toxtricity and Galarian Darmanitan.

I really like this team, though I wasn't expecting Centiskorch. The team I'd give Ash is Pikachu, Rillaboom, Corviknight, Sirfetch'd, Dracovish and Alcremie/Grimmsnarl. Leaning more towards Alcremie. I didn't give him a fire type as in Kalos, Ash didn't have a grass type and he didn't have a water type in Alola. I'd like to try and even things out without giving him a fire type here. If i had to though, probably Cinderace or Centiskorch. I love Ash's Sirfecth'd and Dracovish so they get to stay. Like you, Grookey fits Ash the best of the 3 starters and he should definitely have the regional bird. I gave Ash Alcremie because he only has one fairy type with Mimey but it hasn't used a fairy type move. Plus I loved the bond Ash had with the Alcremie he worked with in episode 82. I always loved thinking that Ash would catch an Impidimp but after you said it seemed to fit Team Rocket more, my mind changed quite quickly. Sorry that this was a long comment😂
Great video! I just did an “Ash run” for my sword game before seeing this. My team was: Pikachu, Urshifu single strike, Sirfetch’d, Blastoise (brought back Squirtle to train him), Purrserker, and Cinderace. Really fun team and experiment i think!
I'll surely give ash an Inteleon. Sobble would be a perfect fit for ash's team as its both cute and also wimpy. Ash would raise it from a scaredy cat into a fierce battler. The Urshifu arc might be smaller but we can see sobble's personality change throughout the entire series. Its base stats are impressive and the ability to go invisible would be awesome. Much like chimchar, Sobble would be another pokemon abandoned by a trainer who thought sobble was weak, then ash would catch sobble. I know you're saying "but it can't be the same as infernape's storyline" ; hold on there now ; Unlike infernape, Sobble would defeat his original trainer, who already caught a drednaw, by staying as sobble (i guess where you're going... yes its just like tepig's storyline but better). Then ash would continue sobble to train all the way upto Inteleon.
The Pokémon I would choose are Pikachu (he is pikachu) Cramorant (he needs love) Garchomp (to support the sinnoh remakes) Rillaboom (I love grookey. That’s it) Urshifu single strike (urshifu) Galarian farfetch’d (he is cool) Rotations: centiskorch, orbeetle
I have a crazy theory and it might not hold up at this point, but I think the anime may be dividing into two separate timelines after journeys one for Galar and one for Paldea the Paldea anime will take place after Journeys and the new timeline for the Galar region will follow the formula we wanted to see and make Journeys non canon.
I kinda want to do a run with this exact team as it looks fun also like that each mon can gigantamax which I would probably go through of the effort of making it so that they all can
I'm personally not the biggest fan of Rillaboom cause with it's drum, it kind of incetivises being in a singular place in opposition to Ash's usual gameplan which usually involves high movement. I think just Thwakey would be fine but we all know how people are when someone dares to prefer a Pokemon not to evolve in the anime.
I feel it's usually easier to write high octane battles with more agile Pokemon. Battles involving less mobile members would have to lean VERY hard into the tactical side in order to make up for it.
@@eljordinio7647 it's as fast as Venusaur and Venusaur is pretty slow in the anime. On top of that, that stupid drum is too big for him to be agile. Inteleon is far more better choice. Plus, after we saw how annoying Grookey is, I don't want him anywhere near Ash
@@mr.mystery9940 rilaboom also has a more agile build than venusaur tho so he could potentially move faster in the anime. Plus like sirfetch'd used his shield as a ranged weapon against Bea, rilaboom could potentially use his drum as a projectile too
Ash is either a Bird Keeper or Grass Specialist He mostly chooses Grass starters and has kept a Bird in every generation prior to Galar And you have the Starter typing + Pikachu + Flying combo, cool
Honestly I would give Ash toxitricty and make him something of a big brother figure to Pikachu. Like he get's super protective of Pikachu and when Team rocket messes with the little mouse he get's particauarly brutal with them. Hehe I think that would be fun.
These are pretty good choices but I think I'd make a couple changes. Especially considering Kubfu is technically Legendary, and Galar isn't a region with such emphasis on the Legendaries/etc. being a part of everyday life like Alola was. First, I'd say Sirfetch'd SHOULD be Ash's regional bird, even if it's one that cannot fly. And that could be something that gets Ash confused and even at odds with it as a Farfetch'd due to his own familiarity. Another Pokemon that can fly should be here, though I do admit I struggle to pick the right one. Second, I think a Mime Jr. should join his team and evolve into Galarian Mr. Mime, MAYBE Mr. Rime as well? I don't know whether this fits as a replacement for Urshifu, but it leads to a lot of funny stuff with Mimey back home. If not that, give it to a companion. Heck, do a trade deal like with Ambipom and Buizel. The rest, depends how you feel on there being more than 6 team members, another Electric type, the better Rock or Fire types...but those are the changes I'd make. Also a companion absolutely needs to have Yamper. This is non-negotiable.
Kubfu is a legendary that starts small and needs bonding and training. Galar literally has a place to catch all legendaries and murals of legensd all over the place how the hell is it not connected to legends? Kubfu is honestly the only legendary I can see Ash catching
i think the pokemon anime could put both victor, and gloria into the story, as victor could show up a few times, and gloria could be a companion, with hop
If limited to Galar, my opinion -: Pikachu (Of course) Dracovish (Broken and Ash's first fossil) Rillaboom (Cinderace doesn't fit and Ash already has Inteleon) Galarian Weezing (Fits the British theme for Ash in Galar) Runerigus (I mean if Ash doesn't get Gengar, then may as well be Runerigus) Galarian Articuno ( Legendary required. Also as Ash did not have Alolan forms, give him Galarian) Also Runerigus and Galarian Weezing would be a great throwback to James Yamask and Weezing
Dracovish may b broken but design wise, it just doesn't fit. Swap in dreadnaw, or Inteleon as a water type or Dragapult as a dragon type and it'd b better. And Galarian weezing... Also doesn't really fit design wise for ash. Like dracovish it's pretty ugly. I'd have gone with perserker or Toxtricity instead (no electric type will ever overshadow ash's best friend)
Ash's Sword and Shield "What If?" team is almost the same as my Shield playthrough team except instead of Pikachu as my electric type it was my Toxtricity and Grimmsnarl was my 6th.
For funzies, I'll run down what I think each member final moveset could be. Now keep in mind that since this is the anime these won't be competitve movesets. Alright, let's go: Pikachu: Same moveset from SM. Pretty easy. Toxtricity: Ash has never had any electric types except Pikachu. Would be interesting for him to catch it as a low self esteemed Toxel, but Pikachu always motivates him. Rillaboom: I love Rillaboom. Hes the most popular Galar starter. AAnd hes good in battle. I could see it wanting to be the best drummer. Its terrible as a Grookey. Making terrible drumming beats, but Ash helps it to its dream and suceeds. Dracovish: It's one of my favorite fossils ever. Its sad that Ashs in the anime was so weak compared to the rest. Also knowing Water Gun was not helping it at all.Ash catches this Dracovish mostly the same way as in the anime. Urshifu: It fits Ash so well. He would get it from Mustard and it would be like his Greninja/Lucario. The unofficial ace of the region. Its special cuz it learns both of Urshifus signature moves. Yea that's all i got lmao.
For companions, Gloria's and obvious candidate. I'm not sure on what I'd want her to do yet but I feel like she would get Sobble, Alcremie and Eldegoss as her team. As for conion #2, I think it should be an original character since I can't really think of any other male character or trainer class to fit the role. Let's call him Brayden. I think Brayden would want to become a Ranger to help protect the Wild Area and other places around Galar. His team would have Boltund and Orbeetle.
I had an idea for a character named Darin. He'd have Clobbopus (not grapploct), Toxtricity, Cramorant and Flapple (He had caughta Drakloak but traded it with Ash's Flapple)

Since the beginning of Galar, I've always stated that Drednaw felt like such an Ash Pokemon. Definitely my favorite Galar Pokemon.
If he had a drednaw i would have it be very rude and Disobedient and would sometimes attack ash and would only battle if he feels like it

It´s cool to see that there´s still SwSh videos. I personally think that a great team (and story would be):
Pikachu - Like always.
Rillaboom (as the ace of the team) - Because it fits a lot with Ash in terms of personality and fast fighting style and because it would be cool to see him having a badass Rillaboom (with Hop getting inteleon and Goh cinderace because I can´t see Hop with cinderace). Then the three of them could go train at the isle of armor (Ash to train, Hop to do research from the begining because Klara has to take the role of rival in the isle of armor and to get Hop and Goh as part of Project Mew investigating the galarian birds, starting for Moltres since it´s dark type and the tower that Ash will choose is also the dark type to make Urshifu find it and fight againts it, that way connecting both story lines).
Then see them go through Mustard trials and training in general to give their other pokemon the gmax factor. It could work because Hop could be the one telling them about the isle of armor (since Leon went there but never finished it, it could be a good motivation for Ash to want to go there and also meet the person that trained Leon). Then the mission to get urshifu to gmax could be given to Ash after he wins the third trial againts Klara.
Toxtricity - I know he doesn´t catch electric types to not overshadow pikachu but the way I see it working is by having Ash receiving toxel as an egg and then having pikachu acting as a mentor figure for a bratty toxel (since it´s literally a toxic baby) that then gets admiration towards pikachu and later on evolves into toxtricity during a gym battle. And one that already has the gmax factor. Ash could use it more as a poison type to not overshadow pikachu but with him having it´s arc from learning his signature move and winning againts Piers in a rematch (with him joining that pokemon band called the maximizers that Piers probably owns to make room for Urshifu) .
Corviknight because it is a great addition to the team and can use gmax (maybe having a rivalry with hop´s own corviknight). That´s how they meet.
Runerigus (because if Ash is going to get a ghost type and a galarian form/regional evolution, I think it makes more sense to give him this pokemon that already fills both roles without taking two slots on his team like farfetch´d and gengar currently do (and put these two in Rinto´s team since he is a cool rival along with his gallade).
Dracovish (with ash finding the mysterious fossils and creating much more build up and mystery about which of the four fossils he is going to get) and it also keeps the dragon type in the team without overlapping with another dragon type since they´re pretty OP. With dragonite also in Rinto´s team.
Urshifu single strike style (I already explained how he gets it).
And finally cramorant. I know I just mentioned the thing about the type overlap but it´s not an OP pokemon and it could work amazingly well as a comic relief character since it eats a lot just like Ash (probably steeling food from him), with the contrast between how badass corviknight is and how funny cramorant looks and it would be hilarious to see it using surf or dive and getting Pikachu.
By the way, the clothes you gave Ash in the thumbnail look so much better than what he wears in Pokemon Journeys. Also, sorry for the long comment.
Honestly, if we were going based on patterns, he would have all 3 Starters. Johto was the last time we saw him have all 3 up until Unova, Hoenn and Kalos restricted him to one and then Sinnoh and Alola gave him two. It would only make sense seeing the pattern from this perspective. Obviously I agree on Pikachu and Corviknight and I think it'd be better for Ash to go with Water-Style Urshifu seeing as he's a go with the flow type of battler like Goku is: thinking of situations in the moment and flowing with that same rhythm. As to how he would be inspired to do so: Marnie would berate Ash for battling with such wild tactics that obviously didn't work on Piers and that is why he lost. She would then suggest Ash train with Mustard and bring up needing to find his old flow and rhythm again as his battle with Piers shook him up more than any battle before. It would give Mustard the idea of giving Ash Kubfu and telling him to train with it and mimic its movements like the waves on the beach or in the sea in general as a callback to how he fought Brawly in the rematch for the Knuckle Badge and thus inspire the Water-Style Evolution
If he were to have all three then all the starters should fully evolve
Plus the fire starter pattern, Charizard, Quilava, None, Infernape, Pignite, None, Incineroar, then it means that he should get a Raboot and leave it that stage

I think my team would be: Pikachu, Corvinight, Rillaboom, Centiskorch, Dracovish and Urshifu. Then in rotation with them Sirfetch’d, Toxtricity and Galarian Darmanitan.

I really like this team, though I wasn't expecting Centiskorch. The team I'd give Ash is Pikachu, Rillaboom, Corviknight, Sirfetch'd, Dracovish and Alcremie/Grimmsnarl. Leaning more towards Alcremie.
I didn't give him a fire type as in Kalos, Ash didn't have a grass type and he didn't have a water type in Alola. I'd like to try and even things out without giving him a fire type here. If i had to though, probably Cinderace or Centiskorch.
I love Ash's Sirfecth'd and Dracovish so they get to stay. Like you, Grookey fits Ash the best of the 3 starters and he should definitely have the regional bird. I gave Ash Alcremie because he only has one fairy type with Mimey but it hasn't used a fairy type move. Plus I loved the bond Ash had with the Alcremie he worked with in episode 82. I always loved thinking that Ash would catch an Impidimp but after you said it seemed to fit Team Rocket more, my mind changed quite quickly.

Sobble would be a perfect fit for ash's team as its both cute and also wimpy. Ash would raise it from a scaredy cat into a fierce battler. The Urshifu arc might be smaller but we can see sobble's personality change throughout the entire series.
Its base stats are impressive and the ability to go invisible would be awesome.
Much like chimchar, Sobble would be another pokemon abandoned by a trainer who thought sobble was weak,
then ash would catch sobble. I know you're saying "but it can't be the same as infernape's storyline" ; hold on there now ;
Unlike infernape, Sobble would defeat his original trainer, who already caught a drednaw, by staying as sobble (i guess where you're going... yes its just like tepig's storyline but better).
Then ash would continue sobble to train all the way upto Inteleon.

I have a crazy theory and it might not hold up at this point, but I think the anime may be dividing into two separate timelines after journeys one for Galar and one for Paldea the Paldea anime will take place after Journeys and the new timeline for the Galar region will follow the formula we wanted to see and make Journeys non canon.

My version for a galar team for Ash would be Pikachu, Rillaboom, Corviknight, Dracovish, Grimmsnarl and Dragapult. Maybe Urshifu as well
I'm personally not the biggest fan of Rillaboom cause with it's drum, it kind of incetivises being in a singular place in opposition to Ash's usual gameplan which usually involves high movement. I think just Thwakey would be fine but we all know how people are when someone dares to prefer a Pokemon not to evolve in the anime.
Unless there's a legit reason behind it (aka they don't want to evolve or they straight up cannot), not evolving should not EVER be an option
I feel it's usually easier to write high octane battles with more agile Pokemon. Battles involving less mobile members would have to lean VERY hard into the tactical side in order to make up for it.

@@eljordinio7647 it's as fast as Venusaur and Venusaur is pretty slow in the anime. On top of that, that stupid drum is too big for him to be agile. Inteleon is far more better choice. Plus, after we saw how annoying Grookey is, I don't want him anywhere near Ash

These are pretty good choices but I think I'd make a couple changes. Especially considering Kubfu is technically Legendary, and Galar isn't a region with such emphasis on the Legendaries/etc. being a part of everyday life like Alola was.
First, I'd say Sirfetch'd SHOULD be Ash's regional bird, even if it's one that cannot fly. And that could be something that gets Ash confused and even at odds with it as a Farfetch'd due to his own familiarity. Another Pokemon that can fly should be here, though I do admit I struggle to pick the right one.
Second, I think a Mime Jr. should join his team and evolve into Galarian Mr. Mime, MAYBE Mr. Rime as well? I don't know whether this fits as a replacement for Urshifu, but it leads to a lot of funny stuff with Mimey back home. If not that, give it to a companion. Heck, do a trade deal like with Ambipom and Buizel.
The rest, depends how you feel on there being more than 6 team members, another Electric type, the better Rock or Fire types...but those are the changes I'd make. Also a companion absolutely needs to have Yamper. This is non-negotiable.
Kubfu is a legendary that starts small and needs bonding and training. Galar literally has a place to catch all legendaries and murals of legensd all over the place how the hell is it not connected to legends?
Kubfu is honestly the only legendary I can see Ash catching

If limited to Galar, my opinion -:
Pikachu (Of course)
Dracovish (Broken and Ash's first fossil)
Rillaboom (Cinderace doesn't fit and Ash already has Inteleon)
Galarian Weezing (Fits the British theme for Ash in Galar)
Runerigus (I mean if Ash doesn't get Gengar, then may as well be Runerigus)
Galarian Articuno ( Legendary required. Also as Ash did not have Alolan forms, give him Galarian)
Also Runerigus and Galarian Weezing would be a great throwback to James Yamask and Weezing
Dracovish may b broken but design wise, it just doesn't fit. Swap in dreadnaw, or Inteleon as a water type or Dragapult as a dragon type and it'd b better. And Galarian weezing... Also doesn't really fit design wise for ash. Like dracovish it's pretty ugly. I'd have gone with perserker or Toxtricity instead (no electric type will ever overshadow ash's best friend)
Ash's Sword and Shield "What If?" team is almost the same as my Shield playthrough team except instead of Pikachu as my electric type it was my Toxtricity and Grimmsnarl was my 6th.

Toxtricity: Ash has never had any electric types except Pikachu. Would be interesting for him to catch it as a low self esteemed Toxel, but Pikachu always motivates him.
Rillaboom: I love Rillaboom. Hes the most popular Galar starter. AAnd hes good in battle. I could see it wanting to be the best drummer. Its terrible as a Grookey. Making terrible drumming beats, but Ash helps it to its dream and suceeds.
Dracovish: It's one of my favorite fossils ever. Its sad that Ashs in the anime was so weak compared to the rest. Also knowing Water Gun was not helping it at all.Ash catches this Dracovish mostly the same way as in the anime.
Urshifu: It fits Ash so well. He would get it from Mustard and it would be like his Greninja/Lucario. The unofficial ace of the region. Its special cuz it learns both of Urshifus signature moves.

For companions, Gloria's and obvious candidate. I'm not sure on what I'd want her to do yet but I feel like she would get Sobble, Alcremie and Eldegoss as her team. As for conion #2, I think it should be an original character since I can't really think of any other male character or trainer class to fit the role. Let's call him Brayden. I think Brayden would want to become a Ranger to help protect the Wild Area and other places around Galar. His team would have Boltund and Orbeetle.
I had an idea for a character named Darin. He'd have Clobbopus (not grapploct), Toxtricity, Cramorant and Flapple (He had caughta Drakloak but traded it with Ash's Flapple)
