    Great information! When talking about Kynar pro's you may want to talk about end user expectations, where metal roofing is investment grade, and the obvious decision should be Kynar. Ask Mr. and Mrs. homeowner if they want to be happy with their metal roofing purchase years down the line, the overwhelming answer is yes. Kynar wins, hands down.

      Jordan, I appreciate the suggestion. I cannot add to a video that's been posted, but we do have a pros/cons Kynar blog and I will add that to the blog.

    Curious about why you need a heavier gauge metal for the Kynar / PVDF?

    • @WesternStatesMetalRoofing
      @WesternStatesMetalRoofing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      You don't need a heavier gauge. What happens is that when you decide to go with a PVDF it means you are choosing the highest quality and often standing seam. A more expensive product. It would not make sense to spend all this money on both the best paint and the most expensive panel and than lessen the gauge. Also more chance of oil canning with 26 gauge standing seam. The assumption is if you want PVDF you most likely want a heavier gauge. As a mfg. we can only inventory so many items. Nobody that I know of inventories 26 gauge PVDF as there is almost no demand for it. Hope that helps.

    Is Kynar going to hold up better near saltwater/coastal homes?

    • @paulrubio7079
      @paulrubio7079 Před rokem +1

      Newlin, When you are considering the finish for a house along the coast, it's important to select the right material type and the right paint finish.
      If you decide to use a painted finish, Kynar/PVDF would be the only paint finish that I would consider. However, the more important decision is the substrate of the metal that will be painted.
      A metal roof with a Kynar paint would NOT be a good option along the coast. A better option would be an aluminum panel with a Kynar/PVDF paint system.
      Although that's the best option, it still will not be warrantied. Nearly all paint warranties have a proximity to the ocean clause. Check with the contractor to see if your panels are warrantable.
      Copper or zinc are also material types that I would consider along the coast. They just cost a lot more.

    Will covering a metal roof with Kynar be problematic to rain water harvesting? Does it shed chemical I guess is the question.

      Paul, there's a study that was done in Texas that looked at this. Here's a link to it.

      Does a matte black Kynar roof run cooler than the same in a SMP? Do they reflect heat? Thanks

    • @WesternStatesMetalRoofing
      @WesternStatesMetalRoofing  Před 2 lety +1

      Metal roofing typically gives you two options = SMP (Siliconized Modified Polyester) or PVDF (Aka Kynar), PVDF will have much better UV protection and will fade at a lesser rate.

      Toby, we don't offer a textured paint, but even if you found one it's likely the texture would be visible from up close, but not from ground to roof.
      We do offer a large selection of matte finishes

      @@broskiy77 Nearly all metal roofing manufacturers will buy the coil pre-painted or will send unpainted coil to a coil painter. It would be extremely rare that a metal roofing manufacturer would have a paint line in which they paint their own metal coils.
