@@maas3340 I went with the M3 Pro with 18 GB of Ram & 512 GB SSD! Went all out (for me anyway) for the upgrade, and it has been beyond a night & day difference!
Justify : My current setup :video &audio podcaster , video editing 2 -1 hour talk show pods , light photography & PS plus every now & then freelance work
Current computers : for
video editing n harsh tasks - in May 23’- Mac Studio m1 Max 64ram 1tb w/ssd
For travel -lite wrk , audio editing n lite video editing -
MBP 2018 i9 Touch Bar works fine getting a lil old bt 32gb ram 1tb.
Should I get a decent speck air for travel since Mac studio is my heavy lifter ?? I buy computers every 5-6 yrs for reference
Can I run virtual machines on this?
For me, the differences, the application, Vivid, it makes the display 50% brighter so I'm getting the 16 inch MacBook Pro

I'm upgrading from a base model M1 Air. It did an amazing job getting me through the last couple years of my undergrad. My use case and work load have been changing since then. So I'm going to be getting this same base model M3 Pro, too, but with an upgraded 1TB hard drive. I'm super excited and ready to have a powerful computer that's going to last me for years, and maybe allow me to play some Baldur's Gate 3 on the side :)

I agree. Tired of hearing people talk poorly about the m3 pro. Coming from a 2019 16" Intel Mac, this will be a massive upgrade. May be an unpopular opinion but I'm happy to see the P cores and E cores balanced. Hoping that'll extend the battery life beyond what Apple claims.

Yes. Look at it this way.
You’ve had an intel Mac for so many years. Which means your ROI on a laptop is really great. You’re a smart guy and have always been quite smart with your spending which is evidenced by the fact that you’re still holding an intel Mac. So what you buy now, you’ll hold for several years so why not invest in the best at the moment?
Furthermore, you’re in medicine, which means your laptop will indirectly help save lives. So why not give the best to help save lives even faster. And when you’ve done a hard days work, you deserve a good gaming solution and what better to service your needs than an all in one work and gaming machine.

Finally upgrading from my ‘15 intel pro…My work computer is a base m1 and it’s never bogged down with Figma rendering. Can’t imagine what the M3 is gonna feel like 🚀😁

Honestly if you’re not too keen on the space black I feel like you’d be getting more bang for your buck with the M1 Max. You get more RAM and more storage. That M1 Max chip is goated.

Same as few other here. Planning to upgrade from M1 Air which serves me well for Web development, but I can't connect ultra wide 5k2k display to it without going down with scaled resolution. But still unconvinced if this is good value. Maybe M2 Pro with significant discount. Yes, M3 Pro has better battery life but most of the time I have my Air connected to thunderbolt dock on desk

Beware that Max in 14" is not quite ideal. Might be loud as fuck. Personally I think Pro processor is better suitable for smaller chassis

The lights over the table need a bit of boost or extra light for/from the left side. There is a noticeable difference in lighting. I am only mentioning this because of how much effort you put in this and I assume you wouldn't have a problem with me mentioning it.
I unsubbed with my main account (Trusteft) and subbed with this one which is more relevant to the content for my own organization of channels I watch.
14vs16, tough choice, if I was to make one. I would use it as my main PC at home and not outside. I would want smaller footprint and I would use only external monitors. On the other hand there is a chance the larger has better thermals.

Silver is by far the best colour especially on the M series MacBooks

Brand new 14” MBP with M3 Pro 12 core CPU and 18 core GPU, 36GB RAM and 1 TB SSD cost $250 more than refurbished 14” MBP with M2 Max with 12 core CPU and 30 core GPU, 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD. Which one should one choose between the two? 🤔🤭
Am I the only one not a fan of the space black? I upgraded to M3Pro in space black from an M1 Macbook Pro (regular M1) and I hate the black. Feels like a PC. It's just not an apple aesthetic at all. Now I'm considering returning the M3Pro and upgrading one generation instead to M1Pro. Thoughts?

I actually think the opposite. I am thinking of getting the normal M3 for because of space grey. I know it sounds weird. I don't like space black in real life (looks better in videos) and the silver is more sensible towards (visible) corrosion. Hence, for me space grey is the best.
So help me justify spending $1,849 on the base M3 pro MacBook pro vs an upgraded M2 MBA or M3 MBP with 16gb of ram just for the extra usb 4 and space black 😂😂. Its for online school that doesnt requires a MBP 😂
If they would ditch mac os and put windows natively in the chassis of the macbook id never look back. Sadly the os kills it for most of us creators on the other side.
