Did you know before you touch the lava you have to throw your cap and bounce on it you can do this repeatedly and dive afterwards
You shoukd try mario odyssey superstar mode. Look up some strats and you might be able to win!
This makes you wonder how you traverse sand kingdom when there is no ice...
There is a Kaizo mod for this game called Superstar mode, (spoiler ahead if you want to try it yourself)
and in there the ground is more or less lava in sand kingdom.

there was a moon in the 2d pipe on the cylender pipe. You had to go to the side just before you exited the 2d level. It was hidden in the wall.
