  • Rule changes are now starting to allow “both feet leave the ground” however, they are not allowing a “replant.” The above describes the deference between the two as while both feet leaving the ground is legal, replanting in most places is considered not. While both allow air under the back foot, the ultimate call will be left with the umpire and what they are able to see from their position.

Watch guys in ISA pitch. That is a leap. It is like a jump stop. From all the rule books I have read, it is finally all lined up through all leagues, including little league. The leap is a great way to get your timing down, really no true advantage as far ad ability goes. Yes, you may get a touch closer, so fastball is faster, but this also takes away from movement pitches. I now leap and teach leaping to youth just because timing is much easier to get down. I would never try to get someone to change because I see no advantage once established

In high school, everyone needs to read the new rules. "Crow hop" no longer exists in the rule book and is therefore an irrelevant term. "Leaping" is now legal and redefined. "Replanting is specifically defined and is described how it is illegal in rule 6-1-2c.

You’re incorrect hey…your motion has stopped, and repush , meaning crow hoprather than continuous motion which is leaping.
