    This in mind, publication ought to be a secondary award; By completing your work, you have already obtained some internal glory, which is more permanent, I think, than anything that an outward company is going to give you. Congratulations all the same on your success, and I will be looking for your short story collections next time I go shopping.

    I'm part of the clan also. I've taken a few genealogy classes and there are a few reasons for the different spellings. Long ago, when a person had to have their name recorded, written down, they might not have known how to write their own name. So the person that was there to "wittness" it would write it how they thought it should be spelled. And then forever more...that is how it is spelled.

    Just saying. That the blue paint wasn’t used by anyone, but the Picts, and it’s partially debatable they even used paint. But the clan MacRae would’ve been largely Gaelic, since their name uses “Mac” and the Picts were pretty no longer even a thing by the time the name MacRae will come into most records. And obviously the tartan. That tartan in itself wasn’t a thing till the 1500’s and especially not clan tartans, which is a Victorian thing. I’m not trying to downplay the video. I’m a Rae (variation for “MacRae”) and find my general Irish, Scottish and English ancestry a great matter of interest.

      Among recent developments, the Project has tentatively concluded that a large group of MacRaes, the Kintail or “Dalriada” MacRaes, are of Pictish descent, not migrants from Ireland but part of the aboriginal population of Scotland. Another large group of MacRaes are Irish in origin and apparently descend from “Niall of the Nine Hostages.” Read today from the Clan MacRae of North America website - Just saying.

    I have read on your clan website that the MacRea's were naughty McGraths from Ireland that were banished to Scotland for upsetting and misbehaving at a Irish Chieftains duo so rather than the head of the McGraths having to kill his sons he banished them to Scotland. so started the MacRea's

    • @vlogmancsa8453
      @vlogmancsa8453 Před rokem

      I’m pretty sure it was MacRaths not McGraths, and the reason they moved to Scotland was that they were Christian missionaries, and the change for their last name reflects that because translated it means “sons of grace”

    I was adopted...but My biological Grandmother and Great grandfathers were MacRaes. i cannot find hardly anything about the clan....sucks when that side of the family disowns you...you are left with little bread crumbs to track down ancestry. 🤬
    Please!! Can you do more history into the MacRaes??

    • @marciastarr7393
      @marciastarr7393 Před 4 lety +1

      Wyatt I'm so sad that you feel disowned. We've been blessed with adoption in our family. Keep looking for strong stories of our clan. They are in the Highlands of Scotland mostly. The Eilean Donan Castle belongs to the clan. It's the most photographed in all of Scotland. It's been in James Bond and the Highlander and many more. There was an old church nearby, Clachan Duich, but it's just 3-4 walls now. Still so beautiful. And a cemetery where the MacRae's have been buried for 1000 years. It's so beautiful. I hope you get the chance to go someday. They are the sweetest people on earth.
      Fun story for you to watch about Scotland. An episode of 60 Minutes a host retired and chose his favorite out of approx 500 stories. Season 51 Episode 49 The Isle of Eigg Enjoy 💞 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      Wyatt, I have recently found out through Ancestry dna that i'm a MacRae and belong(by blood) to the highland community of Ross and Cromarty. Once you do your Dna test you will find out that their is a FUCKLOAD of MacRaes around that you share dna with. And the amount of dna shared between you two. My great grandmother Isabella MacRae married my 2nd great grandfather patrick O'Donnell. Unfortunately they only had two kids when he died at 30 but i found out Isabella remarried and had 8 more kids! Try it out buddy you will find out a lot...Once you get your dna test done message me here and i'll show you a tree tracing back to Maurice of the clunes MacRath. you'll be able to see what line of children you descend from. ect ect.

    I am Scottish by birth, nationality, ethnicity, parentage, heritage. This video makes me cringe so much!!!
    Please stop this Americans and Canadians, STOP IT!!!
    I can tell you no one in Scotland would make this kind of videos, we don't get obsessed with our heritage because we are not Scots of the past, we are Scots of the present.
