I’ve always enjoyed that technique from that movie. The only issue is that the light from the sun means down on your face, which if you were falling downward, wouldn’t be happening.

The easier way of doing this is to have your actors stand on a reflective surface like a mirror and shoot downward from a ladder, while hitting them with a leaf blower or fan. This is the way JJ Abrams did in in the first Star Trek Movie. No clumsy ladders to balance on.

Also not everyone has access to 10 feet of mylar.
