- Elon Musk already has two companies, Tesla and The Boring Company, headquartered in Texas. Now he plans to move X's headquarters to Central Texas and SpaceX to Starbase, Texas, near Brownsville.

Moving to a gulf coast town in Texas will not be without problems either. In recent years, Texas weather includes stronger hurricanes with damaging wind and flash flooding. Even before hurricane season, there was record rainfall causing flash floods for days.

@lfeb that is a complex situation. Elon, like everyone else, is evolving and growing. Not one of us is perfect. Yes, that certain situation is a sticky one but I have a strong feeling, they both will mend their relationship.

@@lazynow1it's exactly why. Also, both Space X and Tesla would have gone out of business but for being rescued by Obama and taxpayer funding. In short, they were both rescued from insolvency.
@@lazynow1 Tesla received 1.1 billion in direct and indirect subsidies from California. Tesla got 1.3 billion in direct subsidies from the federal government. 1.2 billion in federal tax credits were given to Tesla customers.

No, it's because of SF’s gross receipts tax which taxes all payments even if it's not revenue. They're gearing up to launch their payments feature soon and that's the real reason. These culture war bills probably helped but it's not the main reason.
