A LCW event sounds like SUCH a blast - definitely on my radar for the future

I 'only' did the swim and am so pleased to hear even the pros found it choppy 😅 all other open water swims will be a breeze now! I'm heading back next year to do the half LCW in prep for a later season 70.3 so this video is super helpful!

I saw you at halfway as I was doing the half distance. My hamstrings still haven't recovered, and that was my first race in the sea!

Congratulations! So I’m wondering how far out from the A race should this be done? Probably 2 weeks is not ideal? 70.3 in September

I’d say 3 weeks before is a pretty good time to do it. Two weeks isn’t so bad if you’re conditioned. But either way, you tailor it to the amount of training you’re currently doing. I did the full thing, but you don’t necessarily need to do quite that much. Last time I did 33km not 42 as my long run at race pace for example

Hi. I was one that managed to complete the full LCW and really enjoyed it (swim was roughest I’ve been in). It my first time doing full distances in preparation for my first Ironman in September (Ironman wales). What’s the difference in how the body reacts doing it all in one day to stretching over 3 days. My legs were so stiff after the bike on the morning of the marathon (my first marathon).

Firstly well done! That course was savage especially for your first marathon!
I think it depends how conditioned you are / how hard you have to / do work on the bike. If you keep it controlled then Dom’s shouldn’t be too bad and you’re able to keep on top of fuelling throughout as you can take a break in between. I think that’s the main difference. If you ‘race’ all three then you’ll always have some form of DOMS but if you pace yourself then you’ll be able to manage it a lot better than a full distance in one day. Having them on separate days does allow you to go harder though for sure 👌 the marathon is hard either way

@@Josh_lewis that’s great. Thank you. Got a lot of training between now and September and as I live in that area I plan on doing a lot of training on the Ironman course. Good Luck in Roth 👍

Plenty of time! Smart training and around the course will be great for you đŸ™ŒđŸ» hope it all goes smoothly
