A LCW event sounds like SUCH a blast - definitely on my radar for the future
I 'only' did the swim and am so pleased to hear even the pros found it choppy đ all other open water swims will be a breeze now! I'm heading back next year to do the half LCW in prep for a later season 70.3 so this video is super helpful!
Quality video as usual mate looked like a quality weekend, see you at Roth!
I saw you at halfway as I was doing the half distance. My hamstrings still haven't recovered, and that was my first race in the sea!
One very important lesson overlooked Josh ?...........carry a spare saddle with youđ€Łđ€Ł .......Great event , incredible awards ceremony.....i was there at the finish line supporting my son........best of luck for Roth đđ
đ or donât mess with it the night before like Liam haha
Hope your son had a good weekend! Epic finish
He had a great weekendâŠâŠfinished in the top 20đ
Congratulations! So Iâm wondering how far out from the A race should this be done? Probably 2 weeks is not ideal? 70.3 in September
Iâd say 3 weeks before is a pretty good time to do it. Two weeks isnât so bad if youâre conditioned. But either way, you tailor it to the amount of training youâre currently doing. I did the full thing, but you donât necessarily need to do quite that much. Last time I did 33km not 42 as my long run at race pace for example
Hi. I was one that managed to complete the full LCW and really enjoyed it (swim was roughest Iâve been in). It my first time doing full distances in preparation for my first Ironman in September (Ironman wales). Whatâs the difference in how the body reacts doing it all in one day to stretching over 3 days. My legs were so stiff after the bike on the morning of the marathon (my first marathon).
Firstly well done! That course was savage especially for your first marathon!
I think it depends how conditioned you are / how hard you have to / do work on the bike. If you keep it controlled then Domâs shouldnât be too bad and youâre able to keep on top of fuelling throughout as you can take a break in between. I think thatâs the main difference. If you âraceâ all three then youâll always have some form of DOMS but if you pace yourself then youâll be able to manage it a lot better than a full distance in one day. Having them on separate days does allow you to go harder though for sure đ the marathon is hard either way
@@Josh_lewis thatâs great. Thank you. Got a lot of training between now and September and as I live in that area I plan on doing a lot of training on the Ironman course. Good Luck in Roth đ
Plenty of time! Smart training and around the course will be great for you đđ» hope it all goes smoothly
