I’m a woodworker who drops in to blacksmithing videos every so often. There is something very Primal about this skill which I am drawn to. I love those hammer drops to a red hot piece on the anvil along with the subsequent reverberations. So invigorating!!!

Shop looks great. No light or cold coming in through the walls will be great for the winter. 👏👏👏🤞🙏

It's actually exciting to me to see how your expansive shop i still set up for quick, efficient work. And we can;t call Thomas the Illustrious Hand Model anymore. HE can't hold a pose LOL

Well thought out set up Roy! Been thinking the last week of reconfiguring some of the furniture in my workshop so this gives me some useful tips! Thanks Roy!🇦🇺

Nice shop and very well set up . How come no concrete floor ? If you make gates etc how do you manage without a flat area to lay out work on ?

Shops looking good, still a little odd not seeing light through the walls though. Can't wait to see what you do for your stone harth and hood, still trying to figure out what I want to do for mine. Session video, keep up the good work

Wondering if each of the helpers in your shop have their own hand tools? If the tools are shared, how are they stored? Such as Hammer stand and storage for punches and chisels.

What do you think in the minimum roof height would be good with burning coke like that. I’ve always loved how your shop is and am in hopes of building a barn type shop one day

The minimum would be probably around 12' in my opinion. Hopefully you get to build that dream shop someday soon 🙂 God bless

You don't do any heat treating, or did I miss it?

Do you have any machining equipment like a lathe and a mill for projects?

  • @georgefrattarelli7978

Curious how often you refill the 100lbs propane tank with the quantity of work you do

    >__< so you like to have your vice out in the open huh you dont keep it in the vice den, and you actually use the stuff thats been up for review in your day to day occasionally? would have thought it was just for review or to show that you dont have to have a full expensive shop to get forging and metal forming work done even as professional smiths.
so you dont have your hydraulic press at all anymore period? you did not even mention it.
and is the thirty feet hight for the eventual double frame steam hammer ;P you wanted to build one day?

    • @Carterironworks

He does have another space there with his plasma table, I wonder if he put a hydraulic press in the for a touch of pre bending. I don't know, interesting question
