    "Whatever the outcome, it could drastically effect what we know as IndyCar Racing in the future..."
    He was not kidding!

    This was a fabulous race. The late start and onset of twilight made it one to remember. Also it was the joyous return of Michael Andretti and winning his first race back after his horrible F1 experience. CART was awesome.

    My first year working at this event. Trackside comms and I was at the 1st chicane. Gary Barnard from Indianapolis was the chief communicator.

    21:56, the corner workers push Hiro's car so hard that the rear wing breaks off and the crowd roars.

    Does anyone else think Michael Andretti should've stayed with Chip Ganassi for the rest of his career. That team was about to blow the f*ck up as the premiere team of the late-90s. Also, Ganassi was from Pittsburgh, PA and Andretti was from Nazareth, PA. Northeastern Pennsylvania and Southwestern Pennsylvania, together at last.

    Thanks for this. The Australian telecast was cut short because of the late start.

      that's odd, indycar uploaded the full australia broadcast and it has the finish...the joys of 90s tv i guess

    15:40 how anyone thought following this guy into a new series was a good idea is a mystery, he can't even string a sentence together without massive pauses and inarticulate phrasing
    Now we know the IRL was nothing but a power grab, emptying the hulman bank account to do nothing but damage his percieved "enemies" and teach them a lesson until they installed him as the exalted king of Indycar he thought he deserved, but no-one else did
    Respect is Earnt, Tony, not inherited. Now you have neither of those things, and you've ruined open wheel racing as a result
    Bill France and Bernie Ecclestone must be laughing on the other side of their faces.

      cdname47 However Berine and Bill France were both in his ear and they had to play a part in the split as well. The IRL was started in 1994 when he knew he would be getting NASCAR fans and money and thinking it would never dry up and look at the Brickyard 400 now empty seats it used to be packed like crazy even when it was hot in 2003. Now they can’t get above like 50 to 60k at a 250,000 seat track. Thank God his hands are not in INDYCAR anymore.

      Only reason IndyCar won that war was because CART/Champ Car couldn't do anything without stumbling into themselves. If CART was even competently run, even with the Indy 500, Tony George would have been begging for forgiveness in a couple years while CART picked the bones clean from the IRL, and maybe even run George out of IMS in the process.

    Do americans realize that Australians actually gave a couple of shits about IndyCar, that was when they were racing here of course, now, well no one even knows it exists

    • @SwineBrothers
      @SwineBrothers Před 6 lety +3

      not really our falt, i said for years that indycar needs to go back to australia, but the irl apparently didn't think so, which is fucking sad
