    Many people hate Jerry. They are entitled to their opinion but even they would have to admit; they would not have had the guts to get up so many times. Jerry didn’t have America’s Got Talent to get himself out there to millions of people all at once; he came up in the vaudevillian era. If they hate you, you get disemboweled. And you have to get up. Go out there and play to another crowd who may do that to you again. Day in and day out. I’m glad for those of us who saw the treasure you were. Who loved you. You were beautiful, Jerry. Thank you for posting this. It is a treasure.

    As a 24 year old, I haven't been able to see Jerry Lewis in his prime. But I've been able to collect movies such as Nutty Professor and Bell Boy and his skill is legendary. His acting skills is something that lacks in today's Hollywood...he didn't even have to speak and could still be funny. A true legend a hell of a man.

      I couldn't agree more. I'm also part of the younger generation (born in 1981), so I wasn't around during his prime either, but while I was growing up, my parents would always talk about him and watch him, so I at least had a great deal of exposure and knowledge as to who he was and gained a massive appreciation for his work at a very early age, even though it was well before my time.

      At 90 years he had lost all his best friends. Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis. Since 1995 he had lost "his" Dean.
      He suffered a never-ending series of serious illnesses. It is already a miracle that he lived up to 90 years. Maybe ... he was also tired of living. From what I've been reading and listening to, Jerry has really suffered a lot in his life, except for the nearly ten years he spent with Dean. Those were the best years for him. Jerry was a special person.

He was true to himself always. I don't see how he's "full of himself" at all. The sum total of Jerry Lewis is EVERYTHING that made him whom he was . He certainly wasn’t boring. So.....was he Cranky? abrasive?, rude? Probably !
      Nearly always being misquoted by Journalists are enough to pee the pope off. He had high standards and a work ethic that demanded the same from all around him. He didn’t suffer fools.
      Egotistical??? Show me anyone in Hollywood who isn’t , Jerry was proud of his achievements at an early age , proud to work with the best in the business ( Dean) He was also an extremely talented, one off genius . He was one half , of one of the most beloved , and still revered comedy duos of all time. Could you blame him for sounding as if he was bragging? Men in the entertainment business then and now, would give their all to have been Jerry Lewis .Take your pick about what you like or dislike about this man but he’s up there, right at the top, never to be toppled, purely because of his talent , panache , personality, looks and sheer tenacity to stay relevant over 7 decades
      Love him, or detest him, he’ll never be forgotten
      Personally, I think the sun shines out of his cranky backside!!!

    Also in this interview, as in all the others, Jerry continues to reiterate the myth of 20 years without talking to Dean. It has been ascertained with photographic and video evidence that it is not true that they have not spoken for 20 years. They have seen each other publicly at least a dozen times. When Dean's father died, Jerry went to him to offer condolences. There is evidence that at least until 1959 the two of them were meeting in private.
    They wished each other good luck when they had to start a new program or do shows. Why they both carried on this lie is one of the many mysteries that have surrounded them since the day of their separation. By the way, two people who apparently no longer want to talk to each other do not keep each other's phone number. Jerry and Dean never canceled it.

Dean said a lot of cruel things to Jerry after the breakup, but here that night, they were beaming like never before. I really don't understand Jerry. He speaks lovingly of His biological children, and yet He wrote them & their off spring, out of His will. And He invited only like 2 of His 6 children to His funeral. This from a man who devoted most of His life to "Jerry's kids" and yet despite having an estimated wealth of 50 million dollars at the time of His death, He couldn't take care of His real children? Not to mention His illegitimate daughter who He won't even acknowledge who is homeless, living on the streets of Philadelphia! What a paradox! What a conflict of His supposed public image of such a careing selfless man, a man who had to be sued by one of His sons, on behalf of Jerry's ex wife, to keep Her from ending up on the street! A man who in the end, despite His means, didn't even take care of His own!

    • @Donazify
      @Donazify  Před 5 lety +5

      He did not have anywhere close to 50 million in the bank. Net worth does not equal money in his bank account. He went bankrupt back in the early 80's, and while he because wealthy to some degree again by doing shows and supporting roles in films and tv, he was never extremely wealthy to the point of millions. His daughter and wife had to auction off a lot of personal items and sell their house recently. Jerry paid 400,000 in alimony every year to Patti. There is no way she would have blown through that amount of money on her own. Anthony Lewis was stealing from his mother, for the money that Jerry was sending for her care facility. When Jerry found out, he didn't press charges, but he did not make up with Anthony for what he did, before Jerry passed. Also Suzan isn't acknowledged by any of the family. Even Gary who once acknowledged her, seems to have put her out of his life. Any of the sons could help her, but they haven't. They haven't helped their mother either, and Gary expected the public to help Patti out in her care facility financially. By the way he has 10 million in net worth, but is nowhere near that wealthy, and apparently not wealthy enough to help out Patti or Suzan. My parents and their siblings are poor, but they funded their parents in their care facilities. Gary and his 4 brothers should be able to do the same. Also I would like to say that even if Jerry had a lot of money to give to his other children ( that he has given money to their whole lives!) , he didn't have to give them a dime. I don't understand why people think that his children are entitled to everyone he had left. I haven't even gotten into what other stuff Chris, Gary, and Anthony have done, that makes me think they are dirt. Personally I'm glad he didn't leave them anything! The whole thing with Suzan is a different matter entirely. Actually Suzan has said that Jerry supported her as child, and would take an adjoining hotel room next door to the family on vacations. snn.bz/jerry-lewis/
      "Like those celebrities whom Suzan once knew so well, Jerry Lewis was a frequent, though irregular, presence in her childhood. As Suzan’s mother kept the true identity of her daughter’s biological father a secret from Hy, she nonetheless found ways to reunite father and daughter whether they met on Miami Beach for several play dates.
      A good example of that cooperation was that when Suzan was 2, Jerry and Lynn (together) enrolled Suzan in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
      And when the Uchitels vacationed in Miami Beach, they stayed at the posh Fontainebleau hotel. So did Jerry-that’s where he filmed perhaps his most famous movie, The Bellboy, in 1960. During the filming of that movie, Jerry met with Lynn several times in order for him to spend time with his daughter Suzan.
      “When I was little, we’d have a cabana around the pool and he’d get the one next to ours so he could be near us. He’d play with me in the sand, all of that,” Suzan said. “He’d be silly. He say something like, ‘Let’s play ball,’ and then he’d fall all over the place.”
      Back in New York, they’d arrange discreet meetings periodically and often cross paths by pure chance. After all, they socialized in the same circles. Publicly, meanwhile, Jerry led a happily married life: By 1964, he and Palmer had six sons including one adopted-but no daughters.
      “He was very affectionate. He gave me gifts, dolls. And I loved dolls,” Suzan said. “He wanted a daughter but he could never tell anyone he already had one.”
      " She has been living on the fringe for a very long time. Suzan needs help in all aspects of life. When he was alive, she sent him a notarized letter saying that she did not want a dime from him. That she had the where with all to do that must be respected by us all. She has never asked for a hand out - not ever."

      @@Donazify well you obviously seem to know more about the subject then I do, which is why I started off by saying, "I don't understand why," there are always 2 sides to every story. Sometimes all one knows is what one reads on Google & what not. When I discussed this with My Father in law, He said, "well something must have happened to make Him, (Jerry), do that!" Looks like He may have been right! Too bad cause when all you read is that Jerry disinherited is kids & Grandkids, it makes Jerry look bad, especially when the article doesn't explain why Jerry made that decision. Makes Me wonder though why Jerry didn't send His alimony payments directly to His ex-wife in the nursing home instead of to Her son who may have been embezzling from His Mother? Too bad Jerry isn't here to explain it all!

      Paul Inselman, then your father is a wise and intelligent man! Unfortunately, lots of people in this country love to read gossip and judge people without knowing them. It's appalling! Jerry's life was his and nobody's else and we should have respect for that. I won't like for someone to judge my life if they didn't live it!

      Well it's not publicly known that Anthony did this stuff, or that Gary and Chris did the stuff they did. Just family, and a few friends of the family/some fans that know the family. Even without knowing the stuff I do, I still don't see what was wrong with not giving them any money. He gave them money his whole life? His wife and daughter needed the inheritance that was left. They sold the house, and a lot of Jerry's possessions. They couldn't afford them. The net worth of 50 million, isn't anything close to what he had in the bank. He was always paying bills at the last minute, basically.

    Jerry's last, profound statement about being "held prisoner" to emotion is totally lost on nitwit Robin. You can see Jerry's frustration as Robin, having not even heard his response, immediately poses his last lame question which he, if he was listening, would realize no longer made sense to ask. Ugg.

    look at real late clips when Dean and Jerry where still together, just barely, and you see how unhappy Dean is with how Jerry was treating him at that moment in time. I think it was a jealousy thing but a natural jealousy at that, after two men with developing careers just didnt need one another to be successful any longer. aka the Team thing was winding down. Jerry though, was doing some terrible things to Dean on stage and Dean said, see ya. It in video and itsviewbale if you search it out here on the tube. Jerry is indeed a comedy genius wiht a style all his own though. Dont get me wrong.

    I forgot, yesterday I watched this video. czcams.com/video/WcjUx0mTufo/video.html
    Sinatra talks about the famous reunion. He says that right after Dean and Jerry started talking to each other again. And I believe in Sinatra. I think he's the only one who knows how things really went between those two. Days ago I read an interview with Deana Martin, she also stated the same thing. So why, even in this case, does Jerry say they never spoke again ??
    (until the death of Dean's children)

    • @Donazify
      @Donazify  Před 6 lety +8

      No it isn't. Some of his sons are trash. One molested the youngest brother Joseph. Others he had to get out of jail various times. He had good reason to not leave them anything. Also people who get along with their children plan to not leave them anything, such as Bill Gates, Simon Cowell, Jackie Chan, etc. I don't see what is so horrible or sad about him leaving them nothing, when he gave stuff to them their entire lives! Not to mention some sons actually stole from him. So really, again I don't think they deserved anything. He provided for his wife and youngest child, and that was the right thing to do.

      Nofrackingzone 2.0 How is he full of himself??? He is being interviewed; the interviewer asked questions and he answered, and he did so honestly as he always did! You didn't know the man, so get off your high horse! He was an extremely intelligent man and going by my own experience, it seems that intelligence can be mistaken for arrogance. I am nowhere near as smart as Jer, but I've had friends tell me that when they first met me, they thought I was a snob. I've had people call me a know it all, but I can assure you I am nothing of the sort; I just speak well.

      He does come off arrogantly, but I’ve watched enough of him to know he was actually a very nice person. Complex - Jerry must have suffered from depression, but he worked hard to break through the darkness and dedicated his life to helping people - a very interesting person.

      Rob, I couldn't agree with you more! Jerry was a complicated soul, a very emotional as well as a highly intelligent person who had lots of insecurities, but was such an amazing human being. You are right he did so much for others. He had a lot of love inside that he didn't know how to let out in a healthy way...MDA was one of his outlets besides his comedy. His arrogance came mainly from the fear of being rejected by the people he loved and his audience. He was a true genius with a hurt, but wonderful spirit!
