    We all often reminisce about high school but not so much middle school. Even in movies, they always talk about high school

    Very cool listening to you guys talk about your Junior High/Middle School days! I grew up down the road from you guys in Houston and definitely can relate in so many ways.
    What sticks out for me is how freaking big the 8th graders were when I was in 6th grade..they seemed like adults in our eyes. I feel like everyone was in such a hurry to grow up and would love to go back for a week or so.
    It was also funny how many people went through the different phases of the groups they hung out with. There were people that were “preps” or “preppy” in 6th grade then tried the “kicker” phase but ended up becoming a “headbanger” or “skater” by 7th and 8th grade. 🤣

    Middle school for me 2007-2010. We actually started out at the elementary school for 6th grade, but they moved us to middle school a month into the school year. I remember the fun school dances. Sadly, my grandmother died when I was in 6th grade, then my great aunt died when I was in 7th grade, then, three days into the school year in 8th grade, my other grandmother died. I also was sick throughout my 7th grade year because I had undiagnosed celiac disease. I was also severely bullied.

      @Our80sLife Před 7 měsíci +2

      Oh you poor thing, that was a rough time! Also, I didn't realize you were a fellow Celiac sufferer. I was fortunate that it didn't affect me until well into adulthood, but like most people, it took me years to get a proper diagnosis. That's been about 12 years now... definitely not fun, but at least our knowledge (and gluten free foods) have come a long way since then! Take care Patrick :)

    Great times indeed!!! Junior High was up and down for me, but I had a lot of good times in my High School Years. I still have the years books, and I still keep in touch with a lot of my classmates, including on Facebook. But I enjoyed hearing the good times you two had!!!

    I went to a jr high for 9th grade and high school for 10-12. I haven’t kept in touch with anyone from those years. My bff is from my elementary school that went from kindergarten to 8th grade. We’ve been friends for 50 years 😁. I did enjoy my experiences though.

    Keith,the girls bathroom story is great,especially when you consider that at that age,umm,it could have become habit forming,but you resisted,persevered🤣
    Abby,the idea that you were school mascot is beyond awesome,and I love the story where you fell,and falcon’s head came off.
    That’s a story right out of one of the greatest tv shows ever’ freaks and geeks’ which took place in the 80s.
    Funny thing,you each had a favorite,junior high or high school.
    Me,I was a pioneer of teen angst.
    I just wanted to get through it!!
    By my senior year,I was straight up goth,which is a sadly predictable teen angst response nowdays.
    Back then,it seriously worded folks out🤣
    Great video,ok gotta hit the Thames,tide will be low soon

      Thanks Charles! Hope you're starting to get past the fog of jet lag and enjoying your trip! We had plenty of goth kids at our schools, and they weren't all angsty. My best friend dressed that way, but I'm pretty sure it was more of an attention-getting fashion thing for her. Anyway, it seems you grew out of it ;)

    My experience was kind of similar to Keith's...in our area in the school district I was in, in the late late 80's we had 4 elementary schools (K-6) that fed into one middle school (7th & 8th) but what was unique about our area is the 9th grade was a separate school by itself then we had one high school (10th-12th) that was big around 2,500 students which is the reason the 9th grade was it's own separate school. And the school wasn't on the high school campus it was about a 15 minute drive from the high school. I LOVED 9th grade just having one class in the school was awesome!

    Middle School for me was 7th and 8th Grade. 6th Grade at that time was still Elementary School at the time. 7th Grade was the 89/90 School Year so technically I only had one semester in the 80's. M Middle School Building was built in 1926, and was torn down two Months after my 8th grade year. Old High School became the Middle School and we went straight into a brand new high school, even the Seniors were lost the first day of High School. Congrats on nearing 20K subscribers.

    I went to middle school, 6th through 8th grade! Those years were definitely my favorite in school--I honestly hated high school and I couldn't wait to finish it. I LOVE your stories, Abby, and how much stuff you still have from your childhood. It's awesome that your parents kept everything. Keith, I love how much you support Abby and her love of the 80s. I think that y'all are an adorable couple. I wasn't born until the late 80s, 1988, to be exact, but I always hated how I missed out on the 80s, it seemed like such an awesome decade. I, at least, got to be a kid of the 90s, and it was an awesome time, but I would have loved the 80s! ❤

      @Our80sLife Před 10 měsíci +1

      Thanks so much for your sweet comment! I'm sure you would've loved the 80s, but of course the 90s were pretty great too.. those were our college years when we met, so we have lots of fond memories of that decade for sure! We're hoping our videos will inspire people (like you) to appreciate the spirit of the 80s and figure out ways to bring that into our modern lives. After all, things can get pretty crazy these days. It's nice to slow down and remember how to live more simply. LONG LIVE THE 80s!!
