Let's explore how to speak to custom artificial intelligence to practice a language, whether you're a beginner or a more advanced student. I made a few custom GPTs for language learning that I share in this video, and I also walk you through how to make your own personal version of ChatGPT for languages. As always, this is NOT perfect by any means, but we're just seeing the beginning. I think this will change traditional language classes and study methods in the future. I love trying to use regular chat gpt to speak Spanish. But I always find it hard to keep the convo going.
Like, if chat gpt is speaking and I don’t understand a word and interrupt it asking to give me the word in English, it usually ignores my command and keeps speaking. Things like this. I usually get frustrated and just end the conversation.
Hopefully the new custom gpts can help iron out these issues. Cheers for the vid Jerry!

Hi Jerry I want to open a language center in our school and I will like to have an Ai center room which Ai do you think I need to go for !
Ok I only have Chat GPT 3.5 so far but I now have a very simple Chat GPT which asks me a simple question, gives me three possible answers, then translates that to English so I see what it asked me.

That's awesome! I also started small and then built these out as I got more comfortable using the AI for language stuff. I tossed some free prompts in the description too in case any of those are helpful.
@@JerryRegistre one question, this worked as intended yesterday, now it is no longer providing the english translation. Exact same question. What happened?
GPT3.5 isn't as great at maintaining context and is a bit more erratic, so you might find it suddenly loses structure in the middle of your conversation or that a prompt that was working smoothly 2 chats ago starts to give you different responses now.
This happens much less frequently with GPT4, but another thing I do to counteract this drift is I usually continue to tweak my prompts until they work 5-10 times in a row to make sure I'm getting a stable prompt that works as intended more often than not.
Are there any AIʾs working on endangered languages? Or or working on a Custom GPT to help? Iʾm trying to learn Nakóda (Assiniboine) the Montana dialect and there are a just a handful of incomplete dictionaries (only one online), a handful of stories that are transcribed online and only a few short stories are spoken.
I signed up for your paid version. How do I turn on the spoken option? When asked, the tutor says "Sorry I can't operate by speech."

For the moment, voice is only available natively on the ChatGPT mobile app, but there's a pretty easy extension you can add to also get voice on the desktop version.

What TTS do you use to get a custom GPT to have a conversation out loud? I can't get the custom GPT's I create on my laptop on my phone
I downloaded OpenAI’s mobile app, went to the same account, and then made sure to use the GPT on desktop first so it shows up in the recents side panel on mobile (above the chat history)
@@JerryRegistre Thank you Jerry. I was looking for my Custom GPT's like they are on the web browser, not realizing that I hadn't used them in a while. As you suggested, all I had to do was use one and it appears in the Recents on the mobile app and, Voilà, I have access to voice. Gracias por tomarte el tiempo de explicarme eso detalladamente.

Hola, amigo 👋🏽 I can’t speak as an expert on Dyslexia, but I find the greatest value in using AI for conversation practice, so I often use it for speaking practice without read much. I’d assume, then, that you should be able to get a lot of value from the speaking applications.

the AI’s Spanish accent doesn’t seem to be on point though, but wow what a game changer
Ya the accent isn’t perfect, especially when I ask it to mix Spanish and English. So it’ll be best to take cues when it’s not mixing languages-and even still I’d recommend to supplement this with native content to hear different accents and pronunciations better.
But I feel the same-stoked to see this help people learn languages 🙌🏽

Yes-the custom AIs are only on ChatGPT Plus which uses GPT4 currently
Hopefully, one day we can all learn a foreign language and not have to speak it to another living soul.

AI grammar is perfect, but your accent is better.
