I love this so much.... because I love doing both of these moves but it's easy to get sloppy over time. This just helped straighten up my technique so I can get better changes and a stronger relationship. Thank you

This was so clearly explained and demonstrated. I love the two different ways and the clarity yet kindness with which you teach them. Thank you!

This was helpful but I really would’ve liked to see the second method in action after the demo. Thanks so much! 🙂

Thanks. This is starting to change the expression on my horse’s face in the change of direction. Much more welcoming technique.

So glad you explain clearly these methods. For me and my horse these two ways feels much better. I also have the experience that my horse seemed to be confused when I change direction on the not-preferred way.

Oh very helpful! I’m having an issue with my 5 year old - he likes to come right into me in the center. I will definitely try this!

Hey, thank you for wonderful explanation. I have a question thoug. My horse is super sensitive to people backing away from him and takes it as a sign of submiting(as his win). You thing the second method is usable for him as well? Thank you .

What’s your opinion on using only verbal cues during lunging, say to change directions? My daughter has taught her horse “left” and “right” but I wonder if she should just stick to the traditional method like your first example. He doesn’t have any issues with it. She sends him right out verbally with maybe a point of her arm. Only issue is, if she doesn’t have a lunge whip in her hand, he doesn’t listen. She does not hit him with it. All she ever has to do is reach for it.

When you were riding the Appaloosa with the girl riding why did use hold the reins with two hands with a western saddle why did you have an English bit in the horses mouth when you were technically riding western?
