He meant to kill him because thatoneperson requested to die for the fact that he was the true misleading antagonist. He was the one that told the group to kill the hunters even though he knew that they were truly good.

long long ago, the world was a dangerous place. three prophets traversed the land, pursued by all those around them on a mission to save the world. the other people of the land had been instructed to kill the three prophets, and they stopped at nothing to fulfill their mission as hunters. however, there was one outlier... one single person... thatoneperson712. amidst all of the death and tragedy, thatoneperson welcomed the three prophets with open arms. the prophets instructed thatoneperson to protect them at all costs, and thatoneperson accepted the task with silent determination.
over the course of the prophets' mission, thatoneperson suffered countless injuries, some proving to be near fatal. the prophets left thatoneperson behind each time, but thatoneperson somehow found them once again, no doubt out of the sheer faith he had in the prophets. the team would be in utter chaos without him, and the prophets knew it. he was gentle, understanding but willing to stand up for his prophets.
finally, the prophets reached the end of their mission. bloodied, tired, voices raw and gruff from their preachings, they faced a mighty dragon. the four faced off against the terrifying beast as the gods above them screamed in terror and wonder. during the fight, thatoneperson suffered grave injuries. he was sure he would have to be left for dead. the prophets, slimecicle, bizly, and condifiction used their grief to push themselves further. slimecicle called upon a force greater than understanding itself, and crying out to the sky, every single hunter was reunited in this battle against one enemy: the vicious dragon.
the chaos was impossible to understand. as people ran and built and shot and sliced, slimecicle looked up from the porous earth to see one person. a person who had been labeled a hunter, but truly, all he was hunting for was a friend. one person who could save us all.

handing him his diamond sword, slimecicle urged thatoneperson to fulfill his destiny, to slay the dragon and save the world just as the prophets had failed to do. thatoneperson surged forth, plunging his sword into the belly of the beast. light erupted from the creature as it rose into the air, crackling and disintegrating into nothing more than a thick purple mist that was slowly reduced to nothing. nothing but silence.
the prophets gathered, falling to their knees. hunters dropped their weapons and breathed the clean air.

his sacrifice would never, never be forgotten. even today, we will remember him, always and forever.

This whole Minecraft run could be the plot of an anime. I'd laugh at moments, sit in suspense during the fights, and cry when at the end it was realized... Its about the friends you made along the way.
