Update: Minnesota changed its flag recently in April this year. It now consists of a dark blue, K-shaped figure to the left which represents the state’s shape. On it, there’s an eight-pointed star which represents the North Star, and a light blue portion on the rest of the flag.

It’s looks like the flag of an African country. Doesn’t have a very American feel to it.

@@gavin3780I mean, it stands out more now. Before, it was just the Seal on a blue background, so I respect the decision to change it! And it’s very pretty in my opinion. Not sure what would actually define an ‘african’ looking flag, and why you think that it looks that way but okay…

@@AntonyMB Recognise, and remember. The shape being a simplification of the state's shape is a great idea (in this case; it really works in this case). Kind of kills two birds with one stone for geography learners. 😅

@@alex__andrei Some people have been spinning a conspiracy theory that it's supposed to be a version of the Somalian flag because of the Somali population in Minnesota haha

The state flag of Utah has also recently been changed! It’s now a simplified version prominently featuring a beehive. I think it looks very neat and I think so does the majority (?), but there’s definitely controversy around it. As always, great video, thank you! What a cool idea. Oh and also, Newfoundland is pronounced Newfinland/Noofenland (idk how to spell the pronunciation properly)

If you mean the flag on the Charger's roof in The Dukes Of Hazzard, yes, the car wore the Confederate battle flag (General Robert E. Lee being the commanding general of the Confederate army). In the late 70s when that series first appeared, the flag wasn't nearly as controversial as it later became...

A note about the Southern Cross and the Confederacy from a Southerner: While the US South is backwards in regards to the rest of the country, change is slow here but it is coming. Now a majority of Southerners see the Confederate Battle Standard as a racist and bigoted symbol, rather than something positive. Hopefully the Southern states that still recall the Confederate heritage in their flags will soon follow suit with states such as Mississippi who changed their godawful flag recently.
    Love your videos from Texas!

Its actually St Andrews Cross. The Confederates we not the first to use it. They were also not the last. Its also called the "Saltire" in long ago French "sautior" meaning "stirrup" the original meaning sticks with the Confederates "sautior" was used by France for times of dissagreement with the crown.its still used today by "pretenders" who believe President Macron is not the ruler France but the King whoever it is, is. Much like the swastika many thing had many meanings doesnt mean the last people to use it for bad was the meaning the entire time.

@@arachnid4910 you realize that union states use slave era flags right....? Stars and bars included a st andrews cross. There is no "nope" to be found it literally has one. Im from New Jersey man. Nc for instance where i live now uses a "stars and bars design" its not the stars and bars. Ncs first flag was that flag. We still use the same one. The design is 1 vertical and 2 horizontial lines, there has been votes for a change just for it to be shot down unanimously by everyone who lives here last time the vote was done its was 95% no 5% yes. White people do not out weigh black people 95% to 5% in NC. The people of the state spoke and want their flag to remain.
