- Ron Fowler takes us for a ride in the Spirit of St. Louis by JNE Aircraft.
We get a chance to experience what it must have been like for Charles Lindbergh to fly those 33 and a half hours from New York to Paris in 1927.
We can hear the sound of the Wright J-5 Whirlwind as it sounds inside the cockpit of the aircraft as Ron taxis out to the runway ... takes us airborne ... flies around the airfield and makes a couple of touch and go landings before finally bringing her back to earth in a full stop landing.
Then he taxis back to the hangar and begins to discuss the flight with John Norman who built this definitive reproduction Ryan NYP aircraft.
Amazing flying skills, it is quite a challenge to fly this aircraft, respect!!
That landing was so smooth I couldn't even tell when it happened.
Ron definitely has the "touch" with this airplane! Thanks for watching!
WOWOWOW!!! inCREDIBLE Ron Fowler
Glad you enjoyed that!
A wonderful reproduction! Love the attention to detail on the instrument panel . . . Lindbergh's tick marks on the upper right hand side where he managed his hourly fuel consumption.
Glad you liked it!
Excellent. Thank you for posting.
You're welcome! So glad you enjoyed it.
Forward visibility what's that?
LOL!
what is your trim set to on take off?
We are flying with about 36 gals of gas in the center tank, so trim is pretty much centered.
@@JNEAircraft in the simulator i tried to take off with full gas to recreate the conditions he had to deal with and kept nosing over before i could take off lol 😆
@@Iraqveteran99 Good thing you were in a simulator! LOL
The plane looks impossible to fly during day. How the hell he flew in dark all night long staring at primitive instruments without crashing from being dizzy . I fly a cessna day vfr only. 😊
