Tír na nÓg the land of eternal green and joy in gael mythology. A place of fairies and the frontair with the "Other world". Let's remember that Alcest started when Neige was 14 and he was obsessed with celtic myths and fairy tells. This song is a tribute to his childhood memories just like the whole album. Lovely piece of art.
when i listen to this song i always think to myself " when did my life stopped to sound like this "?for me this song is truly an invitation to reconnect with the person you were at 8. So innocent and pure :)
Patanol Tír na nÓg means "land of the young", it's from an old Irish story "Oisin i dTír na nÓg", where the character Oisin is brought by another character, Niamh, to Tir na nÓg to be Niamh's husband, it's a land of eternal youth where Oisin was promised endless supplies of cattle, sheep and warriors to command. It could be a metaphor for heaven, that's an interesting take I didn't take into account before
4:00 - The return to the joyful part of the song after the dark interlude is amazing. I imagine emerging from some dark woods and finally seeing my destination shining off in the distance.
Miss the old days when me and my ex listening to this. These good old days just getting way more perfect whenever I remember them.🥲I think I can't get out of this circle of memory.
Esta canción me da una sensación de bienestar indescriptible... Me recuerda cuando hace unos años tenía que salir muy temprano, veía el amanecer, el césped estaba escarchado, la nariz la sentía fría y mientras escuchaba alcest
I particularly love this song because it helped me to spend a hot summer in the city, full of bad mood and pissed off. It was the summer of 2009. Really a shitty period, thank you alcest
That delicate simple piano riff is such an inspiring an beautiful thing. The strings during the end section doubly beautiful. If you emerged from being long lost in the woods and you see home or you are lost at sea and land appears on the horizon -- This is the music you should hear.
Masterpiece....so many emotions in this song. Lyrics English : With lifeless eyes, my life slowly fades away, Releasing an overflow of suffering, My body, weary from a painful past, Frozen by fear and death. I implore life to let my soul escape from this prison of lamentation and agony.
Whenever I hear this song, I see in my mind two lovers who finally get together after a long time, after this, these two guys riding their horses in a big and green land.. when the guitar part begin, I imagine that the night has come and they're having a break in a forest, watching the night sky full of beautiful stars and then fall asleep while huggin' each other, then after the guitar part, there's the sunrise and them continuing their travel together. I feel very happy by thinking of this ahaha (sorry for my bad english, i just wanted to share my thoughts with you ^^ )
@@yaroxkendo3043 Yeah, it's a beautiful experience. I never stopped doing this. even now, listening again to this song, i can imagine the same as two years ago. Music is powerful
it is great when you like all genres of music, you are not stuck or afraid of changes, and you enjoy magnificent bands like this in all their facets or genre mixing bands like AIRDROID. another changing one: ANATHEMA, genious.
I just love Alcest and Anathema, but new Anathema sucks! As Pink Floyd as Gilmour... But yes, I loved the changes Anathema made when released The Silent Enigma and Eternity. Then they became my favourite band.
Livid eyes, slowly erasing my life, Releasing, too full of suffering, my body, weary of a painful past, Frozen with fear and death. I implore life to let my soul run away from this prison of lamentation and agony Sorry for poor translation
It has nothing to do with the rest of the album. No Shoegaze, no black metal. Sound more like some folk/new age song. But in the end it doesn't matter, is a beautiful song... :)
I know Alcest is black metal-based band but does anyone know if they have other songs similar to this or if you know any artist that makes similar music? I love Tir Nan Og by Alcest :)
their newest release, Shelter, is basically a dream pop album. They've completely made the transition to a dream pop band. There is no longer a metal influence. I think you might like that album. And to be frank, Souvenirs d'un autre monde has very little metal in it, too. Like half the album is a straight-up shoegaze album. So if you haven't listened to its eternity yet, check out Souvenirs d'un autre monde. Which if I may add, is their best album to-date.
This is very new age-y, check out some new age music (e.g. Yanni, Vangelis, Enigma) if you like this although don't get too invested in their weird ideology, also has a Celtic flair so some traditional Celtic/Irish music might tickle your fancy
It's supposed to be TIR NA NOG not TIR NAN OG.... TIR NA NOG is the Celtic/Irish mystery land - the land of dreams if you like... A place of great beauty..
They haven't been black metal since there first demo album, I don't see how anybody could have an issue with that, the fact is Neige has a unique talent for writing very emotional and beautiful music.
Ok I love this album and Alcest and everything. One of my favorites of all time! But I don't understand how anyone can consider this black metal, it sounds nothing like black metal at all. Can someone explain why they consider it blackmetal?

Well Tir Na Nog does mean heaven in Irish mythology. :)
